Spurs do not exactly pay their players peanuts if we are being honest. I don't know the figures so don't quote me but I'd be surprised if they were not in the top 6 clubs paying wages and possibly in the top 4 ahead of Arsenal/Liverpool (although I honestly don't know).
you're right you don't know.
last i saw we were behind
Man utd
Arsenal
chelsea
Man city
Liverpool
by some distance, then also
Aston Villa
West Ham were about the same as us
I'm fairly certain if you look at the teams with top 4 finishes and the teams with top4 fees and/or wages over time, the lists are pretty much the same.
If you take narrow slices of time you could disprove this (after ManUtd sold Ronaldo for instance), but overall it fits like a glove.
arsenal spend 40 mill a year more than us on wages.
Spurs have brought one or two duds, but what about all the rubbish the other top clubs have spent on absolute disasters of footballers. Why do the opposition supporters always just quote players like Bentley, when their own management have wasted money on rubbish players at their own club.
Arsene Wenger has bought more than his fair share of rubbish players, as has Fergie, Dalgleish, etc.
The whole point of the original thread is that the team that takes to the pitch regularly in the Spurs colours nowadays cost in the region of £50 million.
And just for the record, Arsenals wage bill far exceeds Tottenham`s.
A couple of years old but you get the picture.

Do you have any recent ones? I mean since then we've got high earners like Cesc, Gallas, Silvestre , etc off our wage bill. I am just curious as to see where Arsenal rank if anything.
BTW I'm not having a go. You've done extremely well in recent years.
All top sides have had massive flops. All top sides have brilliant bargains. A youth player who became top class.
I'm not belittling those successes or failures. Just pointing out that none of the sides who've ended up top 4 got there without also having top4 spend in fees and/or wages as well.
So have we by our own standards, but no because they always come out about a year later so 2011 should come out in a couple of months.

Agreed to a certain extent, but Spurs have never spent over £20 million on a player like Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all have done in recent years to gain a top four place, in fact I doubt Spurs have spent over £15 million on many players, certainly none of the current first XI. Which shows you do not have to break the bank to have a good team.
agreed
you will though
if you want to take the next step and end up CL favourites or title winners.
Every extra point in the league and round in those comps costs triple what it did to get in the door.
We never spent over 20 either until Torres. And unsurprisingly we were always 3rd or 4th until that with one 2nd a decade prior.
Money, money, money

Fair enough.
As you rightly say, money, money, money.
but there is always the chance of being the anomoly.
the next Messi is sitting in someone's youth academy as we speak.
I just hope it's not yours by some fluke
I hope it's in ours by some fluke
I know all managers buy duds but that hardly excuses it in my books. The day we signed Bentley I was furious and got slaughtered on the old 606 and told just how marvelous he was.
I never commented on Hutton I had never seen him but I also said the same on Bent its not difficult its really not just ignore the media circus and the hype surrounding a player, watch him a couple of times and then if as a manager or coach you still spend 15/20 mill and he turns out not good enough then join the dole queue cos you really are a plank.
Taking a gamble on 3/4 mill in the modern day game is one thing getting it wrong with a 20 mill signing is ridiculous and if you think I am being cocky and arrogant check my postings on the old 606 and you will find they are never far out. If I can make a reasonable judgement why cant the likes of DOF's its pathetic it really is.
