Excuse my ignorance but I thought we had undersoil heating and that frozen pitches at Oakwell were a thing of the past. Did someone forget to switch it on? Can't we afford the electricity? Is it broken?
Who are all these people, beating the club? Where are they and what are they saying?
Give them a chance to get back to Birmingham Royal and they'll be on soon enough. Embarrassing.
Dave seems to be suggesting these are barnsley fans
Seems the undersoil heating wasn't up to the job. It is embarrassing.
Well I'm often accused of wearing rose tinted glasses but ...This is bad...Blunts game ON....Leeds game ON....
Are we struggling to pay the leccy bill?
Can only assume the undersoil has packed in. In spite of dave's meteorological insights, under soil heating is meant to make frozen pitches playable. That said, it's in nobodys interest to call off at such short notice. Such is life
Blues fan here.
Pity the game was off, but understandable with the severe minuses last night.
I have read a few comments on here over the past few days, warming up (haha) to the game, and I've seen no attacks on Barnsley from our fans. Not sure where you are coming from richietyke. But the comments I are seen are complimentary if anything.
I wasn't suggesting that any blues fans would have a go at Barnsley for no good reason. All I was saying was that if they did complain they would have every right to! To call off the match so late with most, if not all, of your supporters already en route is embarrassing. I hope any who can't make the rearranged date are allowed a refund.
Well, I'm fed up...travelling from Sheffield to tarn to find out the game postponed...never mind fans travelling from Brum....
Rubbish BFC...Sort it...the least we can do is reimburse the Birmingham fans on official trips...
let's have this right. the only person starting this mythical argument, is davedrew, who was in fact launching a veiled attack on barnsley fans. somehow, birmingham got involved. i've not heard one have a go, as far as this board goes anyway. to be fair, had it been the other way round (e.g. preston a few seasons ago), we would have been jumping up and down.
I apologise if anyone is upset by my comments which I thought were quite clear. They were an instant response to comments on Tykesmad, I've made it quite clear in the past that most contributors to 606 are generally brighter and more supportive of the club.
Eihei Dogon seemed to understand why the game was postponed and wondered why Brum fans should be upset; it was known before anyone set off that there was to be an inspection.
The timing of that might seem a little late but that wouldn't necessarily be down to the club, that may be determined by the time the ref was able to attend.
As to undersoil heating, do a little research, and you might understand that it doesn't always work (Prem 7th Dec. 2007, for example) and there are a number of other relevant issues which make this an issue that is not as clear cut as you may think.
So, nothing mystical, nothing veiled, nothing rose-tinted! I only attack those who blame the club for everything without checking the facts. And as usual I'm LOL!
LOL as much has like...
Deeply worrying why this game was postponed...
Not being funny, but I'm mystified why you are deeply worried.
Meanwhile, in Paris, still a possibility of the game being called off at 19.50.
So, this is not an exact science, is it?
I once travelled to Leyton Orient for a game which was called off, it's always disappointing but 'c'est la vie'! and now i'm merely grinning, a bit!
Match off! Feel sorry for all those who have travelled from Ireland and for the rest of the 80,000 crowd.
Ah well, a night out in Paris, could be worse.
Announcement just being made to the crowd, pundits now discussing the arguments, I'm disappointed but oh, the irony!
Simply want to know the reason our under-soil heating didn't work...No colder in tarn than in Sheffield or Leeds...Smacks of penny pinching to me...
Oh..and penny pinching that will probably backfire if Brum bring fewer fans to a midweek game..
Ipswich game abandoned in 1st half, not always rocket science with undersoil heating,Ipswich have had a cover over the pitch for 2 to 3 days and look where it got them, yes annoyed that game was called off due to the fact that I found myself driving the other half to ASDA living in Cortonwood.Got all summer to do that. Here's to a Tuesday night match which may get a better atmosphere
Up the reds
