Yes, I think it was good business. Raul has been average at Chelsea the only problem is I'm not sure the replacements are any better.
He is still a sh out for a tackle.
He started off well, has stopped spreading those long passes for some reason and his performances have started to drop.
He's not given the freedom to run forward he's been told to play defensive for us so we can't replicate his LFC form.
In all i think Benayoun would've been better to keep at this point
Massive mistake. I was shocked when he left. His use of the ball was fantastic, he dictated the tempo of games and chipped in with goals.
We've missed him badly. Especially considering the performance of most of our midfield yesterday.
Was a huge mistake to sell him. He played that advanced midfielder role really well for us and made things happen by creating and scoring goals in the final 3rd. Now we have to endure the shocking Henderson.
For chelsea I am surprised how deep he plays but that's not our problem.
He has a great shot though
---------------
no it isn't. He always shoots when he could pass and 9/10 times it goes into row z.
yeah he plays too deep for us i want him to move higher up but avb thinks hes a defender
AVB thinks he's a goalkeeper.
Doesnt seem to have worked out for anyone. He has only played the ammount of games for us that he has due to Essien's injury. We play 4-3-3. Romeo, Essien & rameries should always ,if fit ,be ahead of him. Rusher Tx by us cause we failed to get Modric. That said he got to be better than Henderson for £ 18 million ! or whatever it was. All round bad transfer
You're right. He's too lightweight to play deep so why on earth are we putting him there
To be fair Chelsea need all the defenders they can get at the moment. They have been shocking at the back this season
i wasn't too fussed with him going tho i'd have liked to have got a bit more money for him. like you said he was more often than not pulling out of tackles and i don't think he ever once finished a full 90 minutes for us.
the biggest problem was we replaced him with potential in henderson rather than a ready made player and we've struggled in our link up play.
i'm also not surprised he isn't doing that well at chelsea either as they don't play to players strengths, with mata out on the left instead of central, torres feeding off slow build up etc.

Cuase for years Makelele made them all appear better than they were.!!!
Chelsea are actually playing him in the position he played most for Porto, as a deep midfielder.
Only at Liverpool did he play in an advanced role, and while he was effective, his goal glut was something of a freak when you look at his career as a whole.
He is a clever passer, with good movement, who is not suited to a deep role in England because of his 'bottling' tendencies, but is not actually that good in the advanced role either (he had a good 2nd half of last season, but to be fair, we were terrible for most of last season so he was like finding a penny in dung).
The only problem has been that his replacements at Liverpool have been average, making him seem even more valuable.
I think we were right to sell him because he is not that good and had fallen out with the club, but we miss him also because our midfield have been so poor in an attacking sense.
Righteous1 Good post
The Meireles ive seen though gives the ball away a hell of a lot thought and seems to be very unaware of whats going on around him.
It seems transfers between Chelsea and Liverpool have been disastrous for all concerned.
Definately miss his brains in LFC midfield.

Seem to remember Spackman doing quite well for you !
Chelsea on the brain Paisley
PPD, a mistake. Our Player of The Season was virtually given away. He features in almost every game for one of our closest rivals. His replacements, Hendo, and especially Downing, have not showered themselves in glory. For me, his loss was greater than Torres who, for the 18 monts -2 years prior had stopped delivering the goods and who on reflection wasn't really missed. jimmyTheRed
Good business as usual for Liverpool with Chelsea. How do you guys do it though ? It's like you have a car that is in perfect running condition , as soon as you sell it , you hear that the new owner cannot even get it to start . Of course that is none of your worries.
Selling torres was, but then you went and ruined it by signing A......
