Jog on

No need to be rude. Liverpool are fielding full strength at home to Brighton. You do not need to be a brain surgeon to see that that is what you have to do if you want to win trophies.

arthur........................lighten up a little. Give Stevenage some credit too..........yes we should dominate these games but on a cramped (and it is trust me) ground with a bobbly pitch, it was never going to suit us entirely.

That is why so many long balls were played. Stevenage get a money replay & we should cruise thhrough to play Bolton at home in the Quarters!

"we should cruise thhrough to play Bolton at home in the Quarters"

Hopefully without INJURIES to players we need for the PL campaign.

the strength of the team he plays will be decided on the timing of the replay - whilst i agree that winning a trophy is important, Harry will not sacrifice a potential win in a league game for it with tired players.

do we know when the replay is?

I agree with the OP and i don't think "jog on" is a reasonable remark to a fellow supporter. We should field our best available team, get a few goals up and then think about resting a few.

Yes, we probably will cruise through the replay, but with out first XI playing, and sandwiched probably between playing Arsenal and Man United. I am sure that is not what Harry wanted.

A stronger team today would have seen us through. I cannot understand for the life of me how professional footballers are not capable of playing more than one game a week.

It must be obvious by now that our squad players when all played together are nowhere good enough against even very average opponents like Apoel, Watford and now Stevenage.

Thought rose was our best player today

Hard game but Stevenage are a good team and it was their cup final, full credit to them

Maybe if we had started with our strongest possible line up the result may have been better but we will never know now. The fact is we are still in the cup with what should be a win in the replay and a home tie with Bolton to follow.

Stevenage must be given credit for their performance today. They worked extremely hard throughout the 90 mins and the state of the pitch made it difficult to play flowing football.

It's still a disappointing result at the end of the day but doesn't warrant an over reaction. If we had lost on the other hand..........but we didn't!

Arthur.....................................I think this was a one off. We could put the same team out again in the replay & we would win comfortably.

I do agree however about players being able to play more than once a week.

Incidentally, I think you meant PAOK, Apoel are still in the CL!

I am more annoyed because every cup game has been the same season, rather it being an overreaction to just todays game. It is just that it seems commonsense to play your strongest team, put the game to bed, and then sub players if you want to rest them.

Agreed Spurs are still in the cup, but if Stevenage had anything up front, we could so easily have been on the end of a shock today.

The trouble with fielding so-called weakened teams is that the opposition look at the team sheet and their spirits get lifted, when they see 7 or 8 regulars not playing.

Sorry PAOK. I think it is all been a bit too much for me today.

Im not a big fan of these 'I told you so' articles.

I think we put out a pretty good team. Just the formation was all off.

I do agree with much of what you say about starting with a strong as possible line up from the start. If only it was as staightforward though. Score three goals in the first half hour take Mods and Bale off and coast the rest of the game.

Whatever Harrys reasoning was for his selection thats what he gets paid to do. Sometimes he's right sometimes he gets it wrong. When he's right we're happy, when he's wrong we understandably have a moan or worse. Today it looks as though he got it wrong but got away with it.

Onto the next game. Who we got next?

An understandable reaction to a disappointing result but i think you're being a bit harsh on our squad players.

But that is my point, it is not just today`s game, every cup game this season has been well below par when the squad players get a run-out.

From hereonin in the cup, assuming Spurs beat Stevenage, we will be playing prem teams, so Harry will have to put out the first team anyway.

The thinking about putting out understrength sides is to give players a rest, but all we have now is another game probably between the Arsenal match and United match. Hardly going to get a rest are they.

Arthur ....How do you know that wasnt our strongest team available apart from the keeper ????

King and Lenn aren't fully fit , Ade and Benny had knocks

I agree we've been under-par in cup games, that much is obvious. I think this is more down to our outstanding league form which means the players to ease off when facing lower league competition.

You can't for a second think that the team Harry put out today isn't good enough to beat Stevenage IF they put 100% in?

Also, playing squad players is not just about resting some of the first XI - it's about giving the youngsters valuable experience, and keeping the older players match fit for when they are required.

Arthur,

You are, imho, posting many very weak and pointless negative about our team.

Friedel in for Cudicini? We didn't give a goal away today, and he made some good saves! What are you going to post when Friedel's injured and we have to play him? 'He's rubbish' when he makes a mistake - rather than perhaps stopping for one second to think about it and thinking 'maybe it would be good if he'd had some time time out on the pitch in lesser games'.

Mate, sometimes you come across as a Wum on our own board.

So you think our second XI players have performed this season in the cups. They have been absolutely rubbish, and you don`t need me to tell you the truth. Nothing negative about not constantly keeping your head in the sand, no matter how bad the team play.

I give plenty of praise when the team plays well, and I reserve the right to cricitise the team when the do not play well.

And just for the record I do not consider the 5th round of the FA Cup being any less a game than an important premiership game, and believe sincerely that a team representing Spurs should be as strong as possible. Maybe it is because I am old school, and would sooner win the FA Cup than perhaps finish in 3rd or 4th in the prem.
