Nasri is a . Don't include him in the same breath as Cesc.
This manager also coached the team to go unbeaten for 38 games in a Premier League Season. Something not likely to happen ever in our lifetimes. Ever. I mean that.

fair enough - hard to argue with that
my choice would be give him the money and 1 more season to put it right. if he don't buy the players needed by the end of the summer, i would cancel the one more season bit and move him upstairs and bring me in.
I personally think you are overstating how good Hleb, Flamini and Eduardo were. They were all very gppd players for us, but not great and not in the same class as Fabregas.
You could just as easily say that Wenger was the manager who built the Invincibles so must be given another chance. How many other managers can say that?
Put it this way if we do capitulate this season then we won't get top 4 anyway. Personally i think it's time for Wenger to go at the end of the season, i love him and the way he operates the club by buying cheap players and turning them great. But this season our football has not been good enough and our players aren't playing as well as we know they can. new change of approach needed imo.
agree completely, AHB. so many of arsenal's failings in recent times have nothing to do with the money - or lack thereof - that we've spent. so much of it boils down to wenger's lack of attention to detail and his idealist approach to tactics and preparation.
a few months back i was watching a replay on sky classics of the win against leeds during the invincibles season, and what i saw was actually shocking. every time leeds had a corner, the arsenal defenders were toing and froing aimlessly, unclear as to whom should be marking whom; the defence was playing the infamous high line even then.
it seems we've always had these much-discussed problems; but wenger got away with it for so long because the players he had were experienced and talented enough to find their own solutions; as the experience and quality of wenger's charges has decreased, the success of the club has waned correspondingly.
so even if wenger does spend obscene amounts of money to try and rebuild, will he be able to attract players of the quality of henry, vieira, pires, campbell et al? not if we're out of the champions league, he won't. even if he did attract that kind of quality, how long would it be before those players gel together well enough to fill those gaps in arsenal's gameplan by themselves, without any help from the coaching team?
I've been waiting for seven long years for Wenger to rebuild a side in the mould of the invincibles. Physical, fast, competitive, full of movement, quick passing, grit and determination.
It's not going to happen.
If he's given another opportunity to rebuild, he'll just attempt to rebuild a side in the mould of the teams he's put together these last seven years and our barren run will continue.
You can say we messed up in 07/08 because of x/y/z, but the fact we were 1 game away from the title is a miracle in itself, if we won it it would have been a bigger achievement than the Invincibles. This season is so bad people seem to have convinved themselves the last 7 years were just as bad.
Wenger has progressed (yes, progressed, hear me out) from the simple role of a manager to something more, but in doing so has let his grip on the team, and on his original role, slip.
What I'd like to see is middle ground - I'd like to see Wenger given another year to forward the transition (lots of money, bringing in a new cache of talent, readying us for a big push for a title or cup), in preparation for his long-term successor to take the reins, so whoever does take over (please be Pep!) Has a head start and something to work with. Arsene then moves upstairs to the boardroom where I think we all know he really belongs.
Savvy?
Unbelievable: You do know he has delivered more than most managers ever have, or do you just listen to talksport, It takes bucket loads of cash to win premier league thats why only Man U , Chelsea and Blackburn have won it oh and Arsenal thanks to Wenger. Give the man some respect and time. I would advocate Bouldy as his new Assist next year and the key players time to improve, We have n excellent base to build on ( coq. kos , ox ,gibbs szez , frimpong ,walcott verm ,ramsey wilshire , arteta and ryo ) to name just a few and get shot of the deadwood. We just have to put up with the bad times for now. And do remember we are 4th in league not bad when you think of injuries this season and losing fab and nasri.
This season is so bad people seem to have convinved themselves the last 7 years were just as bad.
----
Far from it. All this season has me me realise is that techinically talented players had hitherto compensated for the tactically sterile approach to our game, and that's down to Wenger.
Our passing is slow and pointless. Our movement off the ball is non-existent. We've struggled to break teams down for several years now, except when we had our best players available to us. And even with our best available, our lack of mental fortitude always wound up costing us. There's a pattern repeating itself here. And it'll repeat itself again next season under Wenger.
as the experience and quality of wenger's charges has decreased, the success of the club has waned correspondingly.
----
Indeed.
You can give wenger all the money in the world but reality is he is tactically inept. His refusal to adjust tactics (battering from united sum this up), his formation, playing players out of position and his persistence with average players as well as ridicoulus substitutions.
I know that I am going to point towards something we do not want to hear: we should become a bit more realistic about the Invincibles. Even they did not manage to win anything in Europe. Arsene Wenger is the only manager of the top 10 with the most CL games who did not win the Champions League. We should not forget this when we judge the club's success under Wenger.
Substitutions - Wenger's responsibility (injuries permitting).
Tactics - Wenger's responsibility.
Training and on-field ethic - Boro Primorac as first-team coach.
Lack of quality players - Everyone seems to think Wenger's refusal to spend is the reason, but I'd be surprised if the board don't have a say in it.
The other side to this of course as mentioned as how much ineptitude Wenger has been showing in many areas.
OK, he might not have had all the money in the world to spend but this deadwood is his creation, so we open the purse strings up, get the green light to rebuild and hand it all back over to Wenger, are you sure ?
AHB, I hate to say I told you so but...

Can't believe it's come to this
I know. I was a fool to think he'd change his ways and you were right. Things continued on exactly the same, the only difference being with far worse players at our disposal..
But I'll tell ya now, no more. I won't be had again. That's it!!!!!!!
WENGER IN!!
"Why Wenger shouldn't be allowed rebuild."
Because it will give him another excuse if we fail in moving forward in the next 4/5 years.
"We're still in transition".
It's why I do not listen to any of his interviews anymore. He is so full of $hite.
The thing is, were we invincible because of Wenger or in spite of Wenger?
I'm not quite sure of the right answer here.
Let's be honest - Wenger brought many of the Invincibles in, and trained and coached them. He has to get some credit for that, no question.
"The thing is, were we invincible because of Wenger or in spite of Wenger?"
Yes, it was because of Wenger. But even that season we underachieved. Should have won the treble no doubt about it. But still what Wenger did was a huge achievement and one we can't take away from him. The only problem is that it was a LOOOOOONG time ago.
