I now watch semi-pro/ amateur football. Most of the players may be crap but at least they show passion and are playing because they love playing - not as a very lucrative profession.

Hi SKA, My posting here has been weak of late.. mostly because there's nothing to say, so wondered if a thread that is maybe not "no football" but at least "no Pro football" might kick us all off into a good old banter frenzy again.

I agree, like watching non league stuff, the referees are almost better, bit more blood and thunder in the tackles and behaviour of the "Recipient" afterwards

None of this slight tug on shirt = stretcher and 4 minutes of added time, followed by immediated demand to return to the field, If you need 'helping' off the field (even by an arm) then you shouldn't be allowed back on for 5 minutes at least

You see, normally I'd have a go at Sir Thomas for that and remind him of the recent history of his team but I just don't really care any more.

I played last and my non-highlights were:

- ballooning my chance for the equaliser about 40 yards over the goal a la Jason Roberts.
- picking the ball out of the net whilst I was putting my gloves on whilst going in nets
- twisting my ankle and hobbling around for last ten minutes whilst the adrenalin surge meant it didn't hurt.

I love the game - all my non-highlights easily eclipsed by the two fantastic through-balls which ended up as goals. Not bad for someone with less forward ability than David Batty.

MJ - there have been several threads like this but honestly, do you think we are more cynical by seeing the results of mismanagement coupled with apathy from the owners and that in itself causing cynicism amongst the fans. Ie. if we were in a relegation fight (exciting in itself) but with real heart and soul behind it, club management you believed in, a united set of supporters etc - do you think we'd still be excited?

OK RTH, contray to the "rules" of this thread

Yes, honestly beleive we would be more united even in this position if we had the soul still in Rovers, sadly think the heart and sould has gone, frankly I just don't care whether we are relegated or not! The problem being is that we would only be here with good management If other teams were really on form, sadly they aren't and we are here anyway. With good leadership we wouldn't be here because good leadership will make big decisions, and support them and not be afraid to admit when those decisions are wrong, and not boast when correct.

Anyway back to the point, RTH please complete the following:

I wouldn't. I don't find battling relegation particularly exciting. But I get your point - if we had owners gave a damn I would be more excited than I currently am.

And you can pack it in 'n all RTM.. thats two of you trying to derail this thread with football talk!

your penance is to complete this:

Couldn't disagree more really. The last 4 threads before this have been humorous, and the 4 before that were quite light hearted. And its quiet because ja606 has never achieved the popularity the old 606 had (just look on any small PL club's board apart from us and Bolton) and because we didn't have a game on saturday. The only thing that might be killing the board off are articles that tag the apparent death of it onto unrelated complaints about our poor season and player salaries.

So as suspected, no humour, no spamathon, no giggles, no pie, no dd... Sorry SKA, as much as I deeply admire you, this place is a bare shadow of comedy central it once was, i'm out of here....

My stroppiness to one side RTM, I don't think its that, there's an apathy around. Debates now turn into quite nasty affairs, Its just not the happy go lucky place it used to be

Most of us naively thought the Bolton/WBA/Stoke results would be the parting of the waves with our manager.

What is absolutely obvious is that Kean is unsackable and the Venkys have no intention of stabilising our club in the Premiership.

Sounds a bit dramatic but they have ripped the heart and soul out of the club. The fans are irrelevant in the great scheme of things- whatever that scheme might be.

Anyway City 0 Rovers 1 at half time, City 5 Rovers 1 FT -

I suppose, personally I haven't posted much lately due to being bogged down with things to do of one sort or otherm but even when I've had the time, I just can't be bothered getting into a long winded debate with people, so I see your point.

I predict a tanking at the weekend, hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah to be fair it did used to have a bit more of a magical fairyland feel to it. I remember the days when people would post episodes of Southpark, Scrubs and Futurama on here. Its got more of an MTV feel to it these days, which is sadly not good enough.
