This season has been forgetful do far, but I definitely don't want it to finish until there has been a major change - ie we lose Big Eck
If we don't, then this seasons misery will simply roll over to next season
Villa are still well in the relegation race
=======================================
Villa are 7 points off the relegation pack. If you think any of the bottom 5 are likely to claw back that gap then you are seriously overestimating the ability of the teams down there.
Be careful what you wish for!
And don't underestimate McJudas's chances of relegating you and seizing defeat from the jaws of victory!
He had a 50% relegation record with us,twice in four seasons!
Gordon Brown.... RBS.......RangersFC.......Mcleish.................
Thanks Scotland
feck me is mcleish one of them
Not on the training ground, or match days, but off it....who knows
I heard McLeish is in the top 10 of managers with most losses in PL history. I wouldn't put it past him to take you into relegation.
And arry's in the top ten dodgy managers at least.
arry's not a jock is he?? i know he cant read or write .....English that is
To be honest it doesn't matter whether this season finishes or not, next season will probably not be any better. Lerner, as much as he has put into the club, is now slowly destroying it and we're back to where we were in 2006 when he took over. WE HAVE MADE NO PROGRESS. Apart, of course, from a couple of top six finishes, which has meant nothing because now we're near the relegation zone again. I would even go so far as to say that 2006 season had more potential than the one we have now. At least when our defence was fully fit we were solid and hard to break down back then, with Mellberg, Laursen and Bouma. Now we have to watch dross like Warnock and Collins try to defend every week. In attack we had Barry, Angel, Baros, and Davis which is not exactly far behind our current attack which has only Bent who can score and a central midfield which gives away possession cheaply every game and can't control a match.
Then Lerner goes from Houllier - a manager who was getting the team to pass and play attacking football, bringing through youngsters, and buying players like Makoun and Bent and, probably, Cabaye - to McLeish, a man known for the complete opposite of attacking football, who had relegated Birmingham playing an awful style of football.
Villa fans need to realise that unless wholesale changes are made to the ownership of the club we will sink further and if we don't get relegated this season it really wouldn't surprise me if it's next season. Arsenal's problems are well documented, but no one cares how much a grand old club like Villa sinks and slowly gets destroyed, and neither do the fans due to the lack of action.
Obviously, I will be portrayed as negative, over the top and a killjoy, but I don't see any signs that this summer we will buy quality players, bring in a quality manager and spend money. The sort of players we've been linked with just shows how rubbish we have become.
Where have all the Villa fans gone? I'm sure there were a lot more on the old bbc 606. They may as well close the Aston Villa page down, such is the lack of interest from Villa fans these days
Quite a few on Sportswitness 87, been on there quite a bit but seems same ten or so people posting and replying, and no interaction with other teams, whether that be good or bad.
This should be the site, and others use it seems, but perhaps Villa fans have just gone away?
Miss the old 606, was good fun, childish at times but entertaining.
UTV
I think this site suffered through being hacked just as the old 606 closed down; a lot who would have joined ja606 went elsewhere. Still think this is the best site though; Sportswitness is OK but I don't think they way they organise replies works to well, while Vital Villa is terrible.
I think the summer is last chance saloon for Lerner & Co. Unless fans can see a real improvement on the way then there'll be a massive drop off in support.
would villa (lerner) be able to cope ...if...they were relegated....and its quite feasable.
no sky money crowds of about 25000 all decent talent leaving the club and Mcleish AND lerner still at the club.
OMG....OMG....still iv'e got dignitas
i am a bit more worried about the run of games that we have end of March/beginning of April. We would want to be a bit clear before they start. some finger nail biting, may be fun and full of drama, but its not everyone's cup of tea!
annuva uninspiring draw today....
mcleish is hopeless.
villa ought to be beating rubbish like wigan easily. not scrapping for 1 pt.
Predictable. If Wigan knew where the back of the net was we'd have been sunk. If we'd have gone there to win it then we probably would have. How much longer have we got to put up with this?
I'm worried about Bent's injury. I believe it's his ankle; don't know how bad it is, but ankles are dodgy things, so reckon he'll be out for a bit. Looks like an excellent time to give Weimann a go. So it'll probably be Heskey...
