RRP,

And to be fair, although Routledge has been on the scene here & there, he never really lived up to his potential, whereby Lennon has surpassed him on every level.

Its strange to think that Routledge scored his 1st ever Prem goal, just this season.

Chicken - I dont remember much of Routledge when he was with is so i cant really comment, but he is quite a tricky player so to have only just scored his first PL goal is strange...did you see his interview the week before he scored? He was SO desperate for it

RRP - I think Andy Gray might have had a point if he used to say it though. It is true that Lennon has been inconsistent with his crosses. In what we've seen this season and even in the half a season when we got top 4, his crossing has been more consistent though, so it shows he's got it in him.

The thing I'd like to see now is how Lennon does when he's getting start after start, because he's coming in and out a lot, and sometimes it's easier to make an impression when you have less time on the pitch than more time.

RRP,

if you ask the average person in the street about Lennon, the first thing they will say is "he needs to work on his final ball"

Well then RRP - If thats what they want to think about him I'm more than happy to let it continue, as I am about them to think Walker can't tackle, Benny is a liabilty, Bale can only run and that Modric doesn't get any assists so must be pap. Anything to stop other clubs looking Im all for.

Just been looking at his stats, the 09/10 season his assists are very good, not so much last season, but fair enough with injuries and the fact we couldn't score for toffee last year. The other day we discussed how many 0-0s we had last season (4) I think that was a high because our strike force was so poor last year, its not a suprise his assists were low.

The thing is with crossing consistency, if Lennon hits a wayward cross its "Oh gaaawd...Lennon again" but all wingers hit misplaced crosses all day long.

I'm not going to mention any in particular but just watch at the weekend, see how many crosses coming into the box actually hit a player on the same team. Its quite rare.

For the record, Lennon was top of the pile last season with a 33% rate. Downing was next with 31%.

All good points!

From what i have seen this season anyway, Lennon is actually trying to score himself and take people on, sometimes in the past when he has been struggling he always looked to pass the ball instead of taking his marker on...would rather him cut inside and lay the ball off than cross it at the moment as Ade cant header a ball to save his life !

But your right...the less our players are talked about the better, so Lennon is rubbish !

5 's Spurtle!

RRP - Thanks

Chicken that's quite true. We can't expect wingers to be robots who consistently deliver balls in that could land on a coin. Lennon is not really any worse than the best of them for it.

Capello made lennon the scapegoat for the world cup, he played him in first two games against teams that played with 11 men behind the ball and doubled up on Lennon, then against Germany , a team that will give you space to play.. he dropped him

Im glad he is not in the team for some stupid friendly before we play Utd

Is this basically a Spurs article finally admitting Walcott is better than Lennon?

About time

Walcott .. valued at 10 million yesturday

So much for being a superstar

I see John is a footballing re tard.....

How the hell does Walcott keep getting picked for England, he is not fit to lace Lennon`s boots.

Lennon, when fit, is an integral part of a team going for not only the league but also the FA Cup.

Walcott is a sometimes 60 minute player, whom cannot even command a regular first team place in a very poor Arsenal side.

And Downing.

31 - I think Andy Gray just added to the whole "final ball" thing, if you ask the average person in the street about Lennon, the first thing they will say is "he needs to work on his final ball", and thats not because they even watch him play, but what people always say about him, will probably stick to Lennon for the rest of his career even though its incorrect
===========================

his crossing as dodgy though before the CL qualification season in which he as outstanding. he has never really regained that form IMO.
