Of all the players we have signed he has potential with maybe Mata to be world class in his postion

His technique is scary but he has three weakneses He is prone to get dragged out of postion at times
He always wants to play the ball out when sometimes he just needs to put his foot through it.

Finaly he can get to tight to his man at times because he is so desperate to win the ball

Defenders don't blossom till they are 28+, he will be imense by then

Gerard Pique is a world class defender, one of the best in the world IMO and his 25.

Oh and he will never be a DM this may sound wrong but he doesn't have the discipline at this stage to do it, he would leave the front door wide open...

Don't think anyone wants him to play DM, you probably need to be more disciplined there than at CB. But not necessarily an AM either

More like on a left/right of a midfield 3 or in a 2 of 4-2-3-1 is where I'd like to see him tried when JT gets back.

Super Dan Sturridge (U3816)

I would say potentialy Thiago Silva

In terms of righ now hate to say it but when Vidic is fully fit he is a beast of a defender

T.Silva and Pique are the two best for me

Yes T.Silva and Pique for me too, but even though i think T.Silva is a bit better at defending, i'd say Pique is better on the ball and in the air (due to his height) which is why he is just better.

Kompany and Silva for me.

T.Silva edges it for me over Pique Both exciting CBs though!

He plays in the league wher he doesn't get tested in the air as he would do in the EPL

Kompany is quality, but i think that T.Silva and Pique both just have something extra compared to him.

posted on 26/2/12

Yeah Cahill is by far the most comfortable CB on the ball

Show's he can deal with all types of forwards then doesn't it. If he was in the prem he would be just as good.

Would ike to see Pique up against Stoke in the middle of January first before I converted to the view he is world class

That theory is no longer valid after Valencia beat them. You also got to realise that the spanish league is much better than ours.

Sorry *Pique is by far the most comfortable on the ball..

The Spanish league isn't much better than the English league. Spain just have the two best teams in Europe. The strength in depth is severely lacking and most of the teams suffer financially. I watch it every week and apart from about five or six teams at a stretch, the league is rubbish. Thiago Silva is also much better than Pique. So is Kompany. Defensively. Despite height, both are better than Pique in the air. Kinda like Terry being better in the air than Gary Cahill who is much taller. Pique used to be a defensive midfielder before he moved to centre defence cos he's got great passing and vision for a defensive player(not on Luiz's level) and so was Kompany. Just because he is good on the call doesn't make him better than T silva . IMO Thiago Silva and Kompany are better than Pique. Watch Pique more often this season and you'd see what I mean.

some serious debate happening here...

*ball. Pique has cost Barca quite a few goals this year through lack of concentration especially now that most La Liga teams play the ball over the Barca back line rather than through it and Pique has to play facing his goal more often. Even Abidal and Sergio Ramos have had a better season than Pique. Really surprised with his rating on this thread. I do agree that he's definitely in the top 5 in his position in the world based solely on ability. I'll put him at fourth behind Thiago Silva, Vidic and Kompany. Chiellini should be ahead too but has been poor for the past couple of seasons. So should Puyol but he's been injured a lot too and played very few games in the past couple of years.

Chiellini: also known as the FM legend lol

ATM it has to be Thiago Silva

I'm not going to reply with an essay

I know Pique hasn't been as good recently, but neither have Barcalona. Probably due to a lack of motivation due to Real being so far in front.

If Barca or Madrid where in any other division they would be top, no doubt. The bottom 10 are weaker than ours, yes. But i think the top 10 are stronger in terms of first teams.
