I just think he's been given a raw deal by many fans. I don't think many managers would have come in when he did, and do much better or much worse than he did. We were a shambles, plain and simple. Now he's actually had an influence on the team, I think he's doing ok, and for this reason I'll stick up for him. I'm perhaps a bit over the top with my support at times, but I'm only doing this to counteract the massively unjust criticism he gets from some fans.

I'm not bothered about being fair. I'm bothered about whats best for the club. And I strongly feel Cotterill isn't. I don't think he has had unfair stick anyway. We've had the longest run of straight home losses in our history, we've gone the longest period in our history without scoring. That's absolutely unacceptable, it's not unreasonable to be angry about that. Yes things weren't perfect when Cotterill came in but they weren't that bad.
I think it's perfectly justifiable for fans to be angry with him and I think he deserves criticism. Let's not forget no Forest fans wanted him because we all thought he'd be bad. Yet no one listens to us.
I'm not praising him yak. I'm simply pointing out things he has done well. If others want to ignore these points because it suits their cause, so be it.
hes done nothing well ffs
he's dropped Mcgoldrick and Derbyshire
good point but theyre both injured
I would say he's done nothing well, but he's got so much more wrong.
I just despair at him as Forest manager. He's not a good manager but he's so wrong for us. I know people say we need someone to work on a budget blah blah blah. We might do, but we need a man who will build a new team playing football the right way. Forest fans will accept not being great if the footballs ok. Theyll support that.
Cotterills the biggest long ball merchant in the league. The longer he stays the more players he brings in the more we're seeing it.
But we've started winning games of football since he bought his own players in !!?
We played pretty football for 2 seasons under Billy, and didn't get promoted.
(This is in no way me sticking up for hoofball, just making an observation)
But we've started winning games of football since he bought his own players in !!?
_______________
We've won two, in how many?
Hoons Cotterills record shows we'll never be decent under him. The bottom half of this league is where he operates.
We didn't get promoted under Billy but I felt I got very good value for my £500 season ticket. Good home record entertaining passing football. Disappointing in the end but overall good times.
We didn't get promoted true. Do you honestly think Cotterill will ever win promotion from this league? Promotion isn't going to be something that will be an issue for us.
You can't say 'we'll never be decent under him'.
I agree, based on his record to date, we've been shambolic. But I'm sincerely hoping that things turn around from here on in, now that he's finally had chance to influence the team in a positive manner!
And no, I don't think Cotterill will get us promoted, but that's not our aim at the moment. If he keeps us up, I think he deserves a chance to see if he can get us into the play-offs (just like the chance Billy got). Billy always states keeping us up was his biggest achievement. I think if Cotterill keeps us up, it would be a far bigger achievement!
You can't say 'we'll never be decent under him'.
________
I can say, based on his record, not just at Forest but elsewhere it's very unlikely we'll ever be good under him. He's spent plenty if time in this league and his sides have never been decent. It stands to reason it will be the same at Forest.
_________
I think if Cotterill keeps us up, it would be a far bigger achievement!
________
Sorry but I think that statement is just daft. The squad has had £10m+ of investment since then. This squad has so much more ability it's crazy.
Based on last 2 games, I say we keep him if all goes well, and if we stay up, we give him the summer and time to supposedly turn this team around, but if we don't start performing next year, as in if we aren't challenging and are continuously hoofing the ball again with 1 man up front, then we get rid!

__________
So what your saying is. If we stay up, we let him totally change the squad. Then we hope he doesn't do what he's always done, play long ball football and not do very well. If he does do what he's always done, we get someone else who will have to do the whole thing all over again.
As things stand I'd give until the end of the season then sack him, whatever. If results over the next few games go back to being rubbish I'd sack him then, or put him on gardening leave.

Sutton <smooth> Cotterill
I think he deserves a shot if he keeps us up. No he shouldn't change the squad, and his first priority should be to get the players out of contract signed up. However if he wants to do some wheeling and dealing, say McGugan for Guediora then I would let him. However I would want to see a vast improvement next year, and it might seem that I am being over optimistic, but I would hope we would be challenging for the playoffs next year.
Plus you keep saying sack him, but who is there out there who can take us over. I say BD, but you have a go at me if I say to get him back, SOD is already at Forest, so can't do much more then he is already doing, so who else really is there if not BD, who can take this team and get us challenging again for the playoffs if you want SC gone?
(I do think though that one day Billy will manage Forest again, but not under this regime but that is a different story )
There's loads of managers out there. Mick McCarthy will probably have to down to this level for a job. Lee Clake maybe. Maybe someone like Robinson at Mk Dons. Sousa did a good job at Swansea.
Theres plenty out there that aren't the proven failure long ball merchant that Cotterill is.
I know I keep saying it but WHY WHY WHY!!!!! Did we not only give him a job but pay to get him. Absolute madness of the highest order
(I do think though that one day Billy will manage Forest again, but not under this regime but that is a different story

Not a chance. No one wants him anyway.
Not a chance. No one wants him anyway
__________
One part of that is true. The other isn't.
I wouldnt want him back but 1000s of Forest do. More would have him back than not.
I asked the question weeks ago in the pub. Full of Forest fans, I might add. I'd say 1 in 7 want him back... yeah could be a few thousand I suppose and when polls have been done on here (look at SBD articles) I'd say 1 in 10
It won't happen and until SBD and the odd crackpot wake up to the fact it will still be debated.
I hope he gets a job. There's plenty of teams in Scotland that would benefit
I only put it at the end of sentence to mention that's what i thought, not to create a debate on it.
But Webbo if you think that no one wants him then you must be in derby, because nearly everyone would like to see him back. Yes many think it will not happen, but many still want him back otherwise why would you have the chants for him to come back a few weeks ago, and even at the coventry game at half time, there were some chants for him to come back from the main stand and even if you did not hear that, you could hear everyone saying how they would like him to come back and for us to play like we did last year.
Anyway back onto the main topic of SC because as i said even though i think he will come back at some time, I do not think it will be under this regime, but with a new owner e.t.c then it could be a real possibility, as they will obviously want a manager who the fans will approve of and with MON gone there is only Billy or Psycho (which would be a risk as he doesn't have much experience) left to choose from, but this is all for the future anyway!
Now back to the present and SC
As for this article, changing subject quickly, Lewis is on his way out of this club. Too hot and cold. He is a talented player that needs a good strong manager behind him.
