"You can't admit what you've done. Real football fans will hate you for it. it's your own dirrty little secret."

You can't change your footballing allegiance. The die was cast long, long ago. Through good and bad, win or lose, there can be only one.

Real football fans simply cannot get their head around changing clubs and 'plastic' is the perfect word for those who do so.

I wish gloryhunters did find their football experience ungratifying, unfortunately I doubt thats the case or so many wouldn't be doing it. What you've described is the way proper fans judge their situation, but I suspect they twist things in their mind to make it seem nothing like that. I reckon:

Winning isn't empty to them, its confidence boosting. They gloryhunt for the benefits of being associated with something successful, so the more successful it is, the more beneficial it is to them. In terms of losing, they assert their right to criticise by buying every form of merchandise possible and watching every televised game.

I agree because this is their motivation rather than love of their club, they feel the emotions of winning and losing less keenly, but they've never known any different so they don't mind.

As for feeling ashamed of their gloryhunting, I don't think they are anymore because there's enough of them that they don't have to be. Proper football fans like us will soon be the minority and the weird ones.

Go have a look at the Soccerdome in Blackburn anytime between 5-8 on a weekday and see if you still think the fad will be over soon. Out of the hundreds of kids down there playing, maybe 10% have Rovers shirts on, the rest is Man U, Arsenal and the rest. Sad indication of things to come.

Even if we went into liquidation I'd have trouble following say, Accy, as a 'replacement'.

It baffles me to think that people can just change their colours at the drop of a hat.

It's Rovers for life, regardless of what happens.

Right on bro no matter how bad it gets the real rovers fans stay through thick and thin.

I find it disappointing that as an 18 year old I am in the minority being a Rovers fan, and I actually live in Blackburn.

Although I continue to support Rovers, I am not willing to support the current owners as they run Rovers down. The only real protest that supporters can make is to stay away. I feel so strongly that after the end of this season, I shall no longer be willing to visit Ewood every other week to check on the progress of this ruination. Other fans - who are equally loyal - must make their own decisions on what to do.

Mr Feed I dont blame you! This is one horrific season ,every weekend is painful .As long as these clowns with our so called(manager)keep running things down I cant see any light at the end of the tunnel,we have been turned into the laughing stock of football.

I'm with you on this Chickenfeed. I think Bolton away will be my last game this season.

I almost feel as though I am letting myself down (and those sat around me!!!!) by not going but I cannot stomach our owners and what they have turned the club into.

If they ship out in Summer all well and good but it seems to me they are going nowhere very slowly.

Full Kudos to those of you toughing it out but for me this is not the club of even three years ago.

Weve been took to the cleaners with venkys and one thing is for sure Keano can better hold on to his job for as long as possible as this might be his last one.Keane,s record is abysmal any other club would have got rid of him long time ago but no Venkys give him a long contract. This beggars belief but alas its true.

I live in Kent now so don't get to too many games but will always be a Rovers fan. I have started to go to a local team to support them. To be fair they are in the Ryman League South but it gets me to a game and I don't feel as though I am deserting Rovers for another club higher up such as Man C"$%y (Vinjay you naughty boy)
My enthusiasm to watch Rovers at the moment is very low because of Kean/venky's, more towards Venk'ys to be honest.
Sad time, but worse to come I feel

Yet more subtle undertones to feed Vincent James' imagination.

Leave it be. He's a troll. Treat him as such.

No point responding in depth its like trying to shepherd a herd of retar.ded sheep. Nothing short of a bullet in the head would register with any of you (where's a gun when you need one)

posted on 29/2/12

You really don't want to go on the city board do you?

posted on 29/2/12

I don't understand why Vinjay still comes here if it only serves to make him angry. Saying you need a gun isn't classy

posted on 29/2/12

I'll tell you why he comes here Thommy, because he's a prat who believes the very garbage that ill-spews out his own mouth. That (being a delusional cancerous moron) OR he's arguably the greatest internet troll the world has ever seen. Either way, he doesn't deserve your time, your attention or even your recognition.

Well DD, I just thought I'd write a thread about my deep dislike for so-called football fans who feel that they can swap and change teams. No mention of names, just a little experiment.

My little fishing expedition worked....up pops Vinjay.

I've not mentioned him in the thread, but will admit to thinking about his actions / attitude over the years on this and other messageboards whilst writing it. I didn't address him directly, but decided that his appearance would confirm what I already knew - he can't leave rovers alone, and can't really take part in the 'Abu Dhabi project'. He's also confirmed that he's a deeply troubled, very angry and resentful individual.

I know a lot of City fans, and the last thing that they want is to be associated with glory-hunters. I suppose I should be pleased that we have managed to unload one of our finest. I don't though, i genuinely feel sorry for him.

I know that he will retort with 'it's you lot i feel sorry for', 'you're all liars', 'I'm defending Jack', etc, etc but the sad truth is that he isn't really into football, no matter how much he may like to think that he is and he'll never feel like real fans do.

He's not deserting Rovers fans, or moving on to better things. He's deserting football.

I'm not going to waste any more time on him. Good luck to him at City.

Totally agree with what the OP is suggesting here.

Ironically I'm a city fan, first game in 94, and dragged kicking and screaming into the sky blue. Was always told I was a Blue, choice isn't even a factor.

What makes British club football more special than any other format in the world is the attitude and depth of support for clubs of all levels of the leagues. Look around, 70% of spain support the big 2, and even more in the likes of Scotland. France is similar.

For most of us, its not about winning, and never will be. Its about the gallows humour, and the memories and emotions you encounter while following your team. Trophies are nothing but a bonus (I've always felt that way, although they were never in my concious thoughts until recently).

Had this conversation with a Canadian United fan I encountered on a night out recently. He explained to me how he actually respected my opinion LESS because my team was not as successful as "his" team.

Always liked Rovers, keep the faith, brainwash your kids! dont give them a choice

Also, Vinjay, glad you're never on our board.

posted on 29/2/12

Obvious that die hard City fans would not want any association with 'johnny come lately glory hunters'. See Vinjay, all proper football fans feel the same way.

Brilliant times for City by the way and I am chuffed for all those fans put through the ringer this last 30 years or so following City.

Cheers

Still feels downright weird.

They already do brainwash their kids. The attempt to belittle me with this thread is ironic guess its a break from belittling Rovers as usual. That's the attitude they pass on to their kids almost like a form of child abuse in a way. I feel sorry for the kids in Blackburn almost as much as I feel sorry for Jack Walker. Rovers fans like to climb on his statue did you know?

Is it too logical to point out that there are other City related boards to post on? Is that too truthful and logical for this thread?

I'm not going to condemn anyone who does not know the full facts. I've been honest you won't get any honesty out of Rovers fans only baseless assumptions like those made in this article.

Its quite funny to see the media condemning Rovers fans for abusing Kean. Its actually one of the few things Rovers fans have done right in recent years.

Still condemning Kean for drink driving yet barely uttering a word about Givet doing the same thing? Just one of the many examples where Rovers fans show their true, 2 faced standards. Only to happy to get on the moral high horse when it suits them.

Seem to recall brovers making a comment about feeling empty. Well you want to know what made me feel dead inside? Having every last bit of enthusiasm sucked out of me by the parasitic leeches that inhabit Ewood Park week after week.

2 great comments there Rocket Surgery.

As for Vinners latest tirade...

Rocket you can learn something from OOJW. How not to urinate on a great owner's legacy. City fans won't do that though that's the difference between good and evil.
