I must have missed this. When did they become a major international side?
Somehow 5th in the current rankings table, must be doing something right?
Don't know what, though.
Spain, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Argentina, Uruguay, Portugal, Italy, France are all better teams than England if you ask me.
Out at group stages for my money
4 points won't be enough
I agree Sheriff. Beat Sweden, draw with Ukraine, lose to France.
Not really. They are in the sense that the Premiership is a major league and they have big name players, but realistically they constantly under achieve and imo don't look likely to win anything.
I think England will get 5 points from the group, win 1 & draw the other two. Scrape through like they did in SA.
beat Sweden - can't see it we never have
We'll lose to them 2-0, beat Ukraine & draw with France, & go out third place
Of course. Ranking says so. Top five and a strong squad with some good young players coming through.
I don't think the likes of Cahill, Henderson, Carroll, Welbeck, Cleverly & Campbell are good enough to succeed for England.
Very much so, just the history (there will be trouble now) of the England team shows that.
But it's all fizzled out as far as public support goes. Why is that? I notice England games turn into petty slanging matches between Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea fans so maybe we need to find a team everyone can unite and support.
I think so. While I think they are far from favourites to win the tournament, they are certainly good enough to beat any of the other teams, except maybe Spain.
Losing Capello certainly won't help though.
Eagle - That's the thing. The last time they played Spain - SOMEHOW - England won.
I don't think we are a major side anymore; I would say England are a decent side capable of beating most teams on their day, but unfortunately they don't have those days often enough.
Whether it is due to team tactics, or lack of confidence and belief I don't know, but in my opinion England have become a boring and negative side. We seem to play not to lose rather than to win.
I honestly have got to the stage now where I really have lost interest in Internationals and usually end up hoping that our players don't get picked for England, or only play a minimum amount of minutes if they do, in case they get injured.
Last night being a prime example...
