We all should be GRATEFUL to Ken Bates for putting the club on sound financial footing, and putting a good manager like Warnock in.

Portsmouth could very soon disappear - this could easily have happened to us if not for Ken.

In last financial year accounts,we actually made a slight profit as a club, but this year Grayson has spent £12m on wages when he had a budget of £9m. That is why he got sacked. It is sound financial management.

SIr, you would hope they will survive. Looking at the situation though if they don't have the income not sure how it's going to work out.

Looks like some has been really taken in by the bates spin machine.

The budget was £9m (wages + transfer Fee) plus any player sales would be added to the pot. Ken Bates WORDS

we've sold Howson, Kasper and Gradel.

This is not me defending grayson, its just he wasnt over budget.

I agree, I cant see how they can get out of it, they are the worst postion any club has been in, by a mile.

I think they will go

Have to agree. There are too many issues, not least the parachute payments being used in the previous administration, for them to survive.

Will be a squad full of players available on free transfers!

Ok - so who from Portsmouth would we try to steal if they went out of business??

DF: Tal Ben Haim?
MF: Liam Lawrence?
FW: Luke Varney?

any others?

Got to feel sorry for the fans but its just not anywhere near viable,

Pompy in a bad way, but you'd expect them to be ok, I guess they'd just take more points deduction at some point? is that how it works?

Also, read yesterday about Rangers axing 11 of there top earners, and the rest on half pay not sure how true it is but that isn't looking at all good for them... still, they'll prob still make 2nd place

To me the regulations have been too slack on clubs.

To me points deductions if your not upto date with PAYE and VAT(dont forget this isnt their money, its the tax payers, should be allowed to trade on this money)

All transfers paid upfront, apart from add ons.

And All player have to take 25% on wages if they go down ( players union, need to sort themselves out, I hate Taylor)

sir

I dont see portmouths has been a big club

And the football creditors rule is vital, its not right morally, but it would destroy football if stopped

We can't afford their PL wages anyway.

At least the league is now starting to take action by limiting lower league clubs to the amount they can spend on wages. Hopefully when clubs have to break even at this level the league apply tough sanctions when they rack up losses and aren't paying the taxman.

Thought clubs had to show they were up to date with taxes to be able to trade players? Or is this one of the suggestions being discussed.

But it would send football into chaos.

Clubs could go into admin and just lay players they dont want off. The knock on effect of clubs not getting paid transfer fees due what be a disaster

The football creditor rule will go sometime in the future I'm sure. Don't feel it can stand up in court if HMR&C really challenge it and isn't this part of the motion mentioned in parliament.

I cant see them NOT finishing the season. It would be chaos and some deal will be done behind closed doors to "find" the necessry cash to finish the games.

West Ham would chip in no doubt !!!

LIW is repeating what others stated then - and that I concur with fully - but am sure his opinion was different then.

Explain, because my opinion hasnt changed on anything

The football creditor rule is bringing the game into disrepute, and is actually causing many of the present problems. If you can't afford to buy a player, then don't rack up credit. Buying a player you can't afford and spreading the transfer payments over a long period, is a form of cheating, end of. Why should football be different from every other business in the UK, it has to be run like a business, not a plaything.

The present Rangers problems could well see the administrators having to make 10 players redundant today. If these players want to stay they will have to accept a massive pay cut or play for free, so that means their present contracts are being terminated/ammended today.

Wonder if any of these players are good enough to get a new job with us, as they could be free agents
