Welcome on here 4eva, although its a bit sparse from the grand days on the Beeb it still has a few old favourites posting on here.
I agree with you about Sam, although I guess we needed the money this season and Winkie doesn't like to stand in the way of players if they want to move on.
I can see us getting into the autos if Sheffield United go on a bad run, but its in their hands. If they do, we could pinch the place like Posh did a few seasons back.
I believe we will get into the playoffs at least (as long as we keep our form and don't get a run of injuries), but getting through the play-offs is a lottery and so far we haven't pulled the winning ticket.
But as Robbo says "Its time to make history".
Didnt know we took turns? I thought it was decided on the pitch.
Cheers Furz, Yeh its just seems unfair to get in the playoffs every year and never end up going up. Very frustrating.
we'll see Tez - you know its going to be tight, I still reckon that there is a window for the 2nd auto playoff - and that really could be any of the current top 5 (excl charlton)
Welcome on your first post 4eva - I dont think we would be going up automatically with Sammy - we got good money for him and supect it meant we could get better loanees and also we brought in Mcdonald. Overall squad has got better, and will get better (can we say the same about your Tez?) so I still think we are in with a great chance.
For me its a better team than last year, and also better than the one DiMatteo took to the play offs

True but if we are in it we have a chance and I believe we are a better team this season.
I kind of think we have been unlucky this year because there are so many big clubs in league 1. That wont be the case next year I expect if we are still in it.

Hope not. Remember Southampton & Norwich went up last season, while Leicester & Leeds went up the previous one and with Coventry & Portsmouth in the Championship relegation zone, they could be in league one next season (Preston will also make a better fist of it). So there are big clubs every season it seems to me.
There also seems to be one smaller club that goes up like Millwall and Posh.
Portsmouth will be lucky if they are in existance, never mind league 1. SOuthampton, Norwhich et al, all have very big fan bases which make the financials (have the potential to) work. For us to compete Pete W will have to bring more revenue streams online - as we will have to cintinue to strenghten and develop the squad. Our problem is we do not yet have a big regular fan base - we need to be able to get at least 15,000 in every home game without having to count on away supporters. Then we will have a decent financial chance
Whats the deal with the hotel? Is that revenue helping the club? I love those red seats over that side of the stadium. Get some nice food before hand and then not have people crowding me when I watch the game (because the seats are emptyish) Also no sun in my eyes like on the other side!
Why do we have to get 15,000 in without depending on away fans? Money, whether it be from home or away fans still goes to MK Dons doesn't it?
If we go up and attract 10,000 regulars, then it's brilliant if away fans bring 5,000. A benefit of having a big stadium.
Love the stadium but they need to sort out the car parking too. The access in and out is annoying. Takes a while to get back into the road. More exits from the stadium car park would be nice! Still, really happy with how the club has been run
But back on topic, I think we have more chance of auto's than winning the play-offs. Look at our remaining fixtures;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/milton-keynes-dons/fixtures
So many games that you would expect us to win. We've been great at dispatching such teams, and lets face it, we've been pants against top 6 sides.
Lets rack up the points and see what the rest have to offer.
I am taking it game by game, last week against Bournemouth was a great result, we have a fighting spirit, we would have lost this game a few years ago.
Today wont be easy as no games are, but I expect us to win.
Still concerned about not having a regular goalscoring striker, but as 2nd highest scorers, we have goals from unexpected sources.
Mind you fancy Mcdonald to score today.
Welcome here from "the other places" 4eva, and as Furz says, there are still a few old favourites posting on here...
The chances of promotion this season are actually a bit better than most people might think:
There's a 99% chance we'll finish in the playoffs at least, a 38% chance of promotion, and 17% we get promoted automatically in 2nd place...
Non-stattos heads could hurt a bit after visiting this useful site, but it's an interesting indicator of what could happen, if you're a fellow statto
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/LeagueOne.html
15,000 would be a good guaranteed base income. In the Championship you need to be spending even more money on players (certainly to keep your best ones or they will go elsewhere) to attract players that are going to compete at that level.
If you have to rely on away fans to get to 15,000 then its going to be hit and miss - and the club becomes less financially stable. (sorry hasza - back off topic - but hey interesting debates)
And keeping up with the stattos - there is probably a 2% chance of me knowing what I am talking about
Well the run in makes interesting reading. Lets just hope we can win this weekend and then we really will be on a surging run.
SG - took a look at our link - gone and got some headache pills
Whats the stats on every game finishing 2-2 for Bill?
Moocamp asked a good question which is very relevant this discussion but on another article.
I dont know - can anyone help?
To thank and quote Moocamp on the question ...
"reading the paper this morning, there is a strong likelyhood (sadly) that Portsmouth will go bust and get taken out of the league.
Does this mean only the top 2 go up from our league, as only 2 would come down from the Campionship - am assuming 3 teams will still get promoted"
Another option would be that the sad loss of Portsmouth measn there is another slot in C'ship so 4 come up from L1, meaning one more up from L2 and one more up from Conference etc.
So what could happen?
I think that only 2 come down and 3 go up - but then (I think) that means 4 will have to come up from league 2 to league 1 (still 3 go down) and an extra team come up from the conference
All in all this weekend was fairly decent for us. WOuld of rather we got the 3 points but hey...never mind. Nobody else won around us
