Extremely Well Researched Jacko .. and Presented clearly for all to see ..

What Pings out at me is the fact that most o those signings/loans or otherwise are either from Midlands or Southern based Clubs..
So ~ Is that maybe a factor because lets face it FEW Clubs north of the Midlands AT ANY LEVEL (Manc's & L/Pool aside) have flourished over the last 10 years ..

I do feel the common denominator here is that being in and around the Capital has a Certain 'Appeal' .. and of course being that much closer to Britains Biggest Footballing Clubs means that even as a ~ bit part player on the way up ~ its so much easier to go and watch your mentor type pro's when based within a 30 miles or less radius ..

Maybe the BIG CLUB Fringe Players are also more comfortable to be put out on loan to clubs within their area .. Certainly An Interesting One ..

There are no Loan players playing in Powell's team...at the moment.

I am sure the sheer size of the populace around Charlton, 25m or so, is an advantage..but there are also a heck of a lot of clubs competing for those players..

I think it is simply down to one fact...Powell has the talent for spotting players who integrate into his team plan. Clark had a talent for spotting players who didn't integrate into a cohesive team plan (if he had one) and spent a fortune doing it.

Grayson is seeing for himself how disjointed we are, with too many players offering the same, and not enough of them able to workas a cohesive unit (which I've mentioned before). It's a team game, and the best teams are tuned in to the same wavelength. I'm not saying any of the lads we have aren't good players as such, it's the chemistry that's wrong.

I expect grayson to be into the loan market to find that ellusive central midfielder (or two) who can pull it all together for us.

at the moment jacko i believe or defensive players and attacking players are more than adequate for this league we are just 2 hardworking cm players short. im jo way professional footy standard by any stretch of the imagination but i reckon i could do a better job than the current ones. basically ull get me runnin my balls off to close down the man and ball and get into theyre faces call their mum a few names to wind em up etc thatd do the trick this season.

I dont see Larry bringing a loan signing in for a while yet, I think he give all the CMs that Clarky brought in a go ! I think he will have agreed that with Hoyley, So it could be while yet before we see some new blood, Throw into that equasion we probably need to ship a couple out on loan ourselves, Has anybody asked to take any ?? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, With regards to signing players, Of course a lot of southern based/born players will prefer to stay down south for family reasons, Just as we beat the Saints and Ipswich to the signings of Arfield and Wallace, Geographical location certainly comes into it when players choose which club to join.

Brycey..I agree, Deano and Grayson will certainly have spoken about how long will be needed to 'assess' the current squad. With the size of the squad this could indeed take some time. They key factor though is results.

Provided we keep picking up points and have a chance of taking 2nd place I don't see any comings in. The only waiver though is the 2 draws snatched from victory, which hangs annoyingly round the necks of the current squad. Another 'throw-away' may be one too many for the next culprits.

With some tough games coming up, the loss of those 4 points will no doubt come back to haunt us..and we know Deano sacked LC because he is determined we go up this season..so I wouldn't be suprised if some targets aren't already earmarked if we should indeed 'bottle it' again.

Good read that Jacko,

(Enoch ...) He has, hasn't he. Done real well 1st crack-o-the whip.

I think their lead is such they'll just canter for the rest of the season...nouwght Daft, Nouwght flamboyant, Mistakes will be made for sure, But the points gap should be enough to see them Champs this season.

He must have a good eye for amicable characters that he knows will get along with each other...Like our past leader Buxton perhaps ?
And a belief & confidence to stick with his 'best' starting eleven as much as possible.
Is it fair to say he's doing the basic, simple things very well, & the team are rewarding him with results on the pitch.

Hope I'm way way wrong, but I can't see SG having enough time left to get our boys into that all important 2nd spot.
Good luck TOWN, but i fear far too many draws up to now will see us in the play offs.

Darn, I'd probably have agreed with you before Tuesday..but with Walsall beating Utd 3-2, leaving just a 2 point gap, with 12 games left, it has become wide open again.

Nobody is going to win all 12 games, and in a way I don't mind us just being on the shoulder of the Sheffield clubs approaching the final hurdle. The pressure is on them, not us, because they can only throw it away.

Despite our 15 draws, the fact we've only lost 3 mitigates this to some extent, hence the gap is what it is and not 10 points.
