Yeah a bit like Henry, Pires, Vieira, Bergkamp...

Is Podolski's scoring record still poor for someone who is considered a "top striker"? Hasn't he struggled to get into some teams?
Not sure he's a great signing.
------------------------------
He has a great scoring record, he just didn't fit in at Bayern. This happens.
The best thing about him is that he always seems to show up at international level. At club level he doesn't have the likes of ozil, muller, lahm etc. to play alongside so his stats are considerably worse. But for the quoted price, his age and his ability this looks like a real good deal.
I guess only time will tell
Anyone else think he's kinda cute? <BumPinch>

Not that I would have taken your ridiculous comment seriously in the first place but listing Arsenal AND Manchester United as your teams, sort of takes away from anybody being able to take you seriously.
I'm going to ignore all the sniping at Liverpool players and say that I think Arsenal have got themselves a really decent player here. I think he went to Munich too young and at 26 this is a real stage for him to perform. His world cup performances suggest he likes the big game as well.
If I'm honest, I would have like to see him at Liverpool and I would have liked to see us go for him at the very least. Last player I felt that that about was Silva (admitedly City would have killed us on the £££s), if he's as successful I'd imagine Arsenal fans will be very happy.

I agree. Will be a great signing for this league. Will score goals and Arsenal fans will forget all about RVP.
Arsenal should have got Reus. Not impressed.
Reus is also quality but he has signed from Mönchengladbach to Dortmund.
Arsenal are signing proven International quality players, we have signed Andy Carroll. I'm not saying Andy won't come good at some stage but in the immediate future it gives Arsenal the edge in keeping a top four spot.
Are any other reds fed up with hearing the words 'work in progress' and buying 'potential' ?
The longer we are out of the top four the harder it's going to be to get back. I would love to see FSG make money available for the type of players we need, but come summer it will be the same old story.
Will we have news on a new stadium by then? I'm not convinced by FSG myself. I hope I'm proved wrong.

That would be my concern. All this talk of masses of maney, as pointed out.....its all from transfers out, Torres and saved wages really.
