Welbeck was tremendous today. A constant threat even when played out of position. He gave us real pace when we started off quite sluggish in first 20 mins.
He should have got a couple of goals like you say but it didn't cost us and the goals will come for him in time. He is too good a player for them not to.
Yep. He has the ability to bury a lot of the chances he gets, he just needs to work on it in training. Improve his composure, become a fearless finisher. I'd like to see him put his laces through some more, like Rooney used to to in his early United days. One touch, bang.
Doesn't matter if it's right in the corner, just get it on target and past the keeper.
that chance he missed in the second half wasn't as easy as it looked. i sit right behind where welbeck was positioned when he hit it, the angle was against him and i don't think he expected it to fall to him in the first place. he gets some criticism, a lot of it unjustified, but i rate welbeck. he did well today on the right.
I have no doubts about the rest of his game though, very intelligent and technically able player.
He reads the game so well, people shouldn't try and put him down because his goal scoring record isn't great. Some of our best football usually involves Welbs making a nice touch in or around the box. Remember the backheel earlier in the season, brilliant stuff.
Goals will come with confidence I feel.
Welbeck was our best player alongside Young today. Hopefully he can allow Rooney to push forward and start banging in the goals regularly. More worried about Hernandez' all round game than Welbeck's finishing.
what did hernandez do wrong today? i saw another thread where he only got a 5/10 rating. i was there today and thought hernandez had a decent game and was very unlucky not to score.
I thought Wellbeck was great today! but he made it hard for Jones (who was great) if it was a better team I worry that Jones would of been isolated?
Is it just me or is Hernandez trying to get more shots off around the box more now?
Hernandez also appears to have found his left foot. Both today and on Thursday its his left-footed shots that have set up Rooney's goals.
Welbeck needs to take a bit more time to think about things he seems to snap at chances and miss recently.
I know he's never gonna be a 30 goal a season striker but I believe he can be a 20 goal a season striker just need to work on things.
