I also prefer the Xbox controllers, my thumbs used to slip off the analogue a lot when I had my PS3 (maybe it was just the way I was holding it though) and to me paying £40 a year a year to play online on the Xbox is definitely worth it over PSN as that seems to go down quite a lot.

Its not even £40. You can pick up a 13 month gold membership for about £28 these days from ebay. That is where I bought it from. I know its free on the PS3 but online play just feels better on the 360, rarely goes down and is always maintained for best performance.

And regarding the map packs, well since I've seen most of the maps from from them being released for Elite memebers you can get a general idea of how they are like, so I guess when they are released soon as DLC, I'll download them. I haven't played MW3 for a while though. I usually always play with one of my friends but since he hasn't been playing much either, I just can't be asked playing alone...it gets boring.

I've heard people saying a few times that 'xbox is better for online'. and saying the ps3 is always going down... now admittedly i only got a ps3 a week or so before it came back after the big hack, but since then it has been down twice, for about an hour or two each time. both times we got plenty of warning so it wasn't like it just went down in the middle of a game or something.

personally i have no issues whatsoever with ps3 online, so i'm unsure how the xbox can be 'better'.

2 times within a week?
Xbox live, as far as I know, has not gone down once in the 2/3 years I've had it!!

no, twice since the big hack...

Still... that's 2 more times than the Xbox.

anyone who can't cope with a network drop for a couple of hours every few months has far more serious issues than a network drop

One of those was for the changeover from psn to sen as well.

If it was going down regularly or randomly then i could understand people saying it was a problem, but a couple of hours every few months? hardly an issue.

My mate has trouble signing into xbox live fairly regularly - not the network being down, but just not accepting his log-in. A few minutes later it will be fine. to me that would be more annoying than scheduled maintenance every now and then.

i cant remember the last time Xbox live was down for a while. I mean I've had problems before but that was due to ISP rather the Xbox live...Virgin Media seems to have a lot of problems these days with online gaming. Its quite annoying.

really? almost all my mates are on it, and i'm about to change to it - no-one has mentioned any issues... what sort of problems? i might have to have a re-think

I think that might be his Xbox as mine has always been fine and I have never heard any of my mates complain about this either.

agreed.

no idea personally what the xbox is like but the psn is usually fine. Bar the major hack last year, you're warned when there's going to be maintenance done on it.

Its not that bad mind you, I mean I've had Virgin Media since 2004, never really experienced that many problems with internet and stuff, online gaming, a few times I've had issues where I couldn't sign into Xbox live, but that was not because of Xbox, it was a problem with VM. It hasn't happened recently though, so they may have fixed this issue.

sky. Currently i run about 12.4mbps - not exactly shabby, but when i can easily get 30 for similar money from Vrigin....

True, doesn't Sky also have a download limit, I think Virgin is unlimited and since its fibre obtic, it doesn't slow down that much when using the phone line etc.

BT is also not too bad either but they are quite expensive.

some packages do, mine doesn't - and i never use my landline so that's not an issue

i refuse to have anything to do with BT after bad experiences years ago....

Anyone downloaded the new maps, I decided to buy them the other day, so far I've only played Liberation, didn't do too well, since I ain't played MW3 for well over a month, my aim is well off and reaction time is poor, ended up getting quite frustrated as I kept losing direct gun fights.

Didn't know they were out now, i'll defo take a look at them.
