Why is it so low?

====

He is on the last year of his contract, he'd be free to leave or sign a pre-contract with another club in January.

He's decent, but for team supposedly on the up, like City, I see this as really strange move.

Sad to see the lad go, but he's been pretty average the past two campaigns.

the fact of the matter is that clichy is nowhere near as bad as some of our fans like to make out.

the number of decent sized clubs sniffing around him is evidence of that.

The people at these clubs get paid an awful lot of money for their knowledge of football... and they think clichy is a quality player. personally I agree with them, and hope a deal can be struck for him to stay.

Kolorov is probably the worst left back I've ever seen, can't tackle head pass incredibly slow and horrific positional sense

Clichy has turned down offers from PSG, Roma and Liverpool to sign for Man City.

where is the link? I haven't had such news so far.

at least City will give us around 20m for him

What it would do if City do get, which by the way is allegedly a "done deal" (not my words), is make Baines (who City have been constantly linked with) a possibility, all be it an outside bet. I'd imagine Everton would want at least 16 million.

Failing that, Enrique at Newcastle looked superb last season would be a good bet.

To be honest if he wants to leave I would be happy to see him go. He was a weak link in defence and cack going forward most of the time.

I only hope we replace him from outside the club.

If a player refuses to sign a new contract then f"@k him and sell to the highest bidder, as so many have learned before the grass is not always greener

Actually Clichy to Man City would be a very bad move. For us. When Cashley left for Chelsea, we were reigning supreme. And his move kind of made a statement that they were bigger than us. Now Clichy's move to Man City will make a similar statement. We shouldn't sell him to any rival PL club - United, Chelsea, Liverpool, City or Spuds. As simple as that.

no it made the statement no player is bigger than the club especially not Ashley Cole

What about Adebayor???/ sold to City who can't find a buyer for him....

Toure in and out of the squad at City and now out on failed drugs test

grass isn't always greener

I would prefer we didn't sell to rivals in the EPL but it's not it Van Persie or Fabregas, players that would make the wrong statement about us as a club.

As a United fan I have always thought Clichy to be a poor player, has speed but his positional sense is awful. To me he's just an average winger playing as a full back, plus in Gibb I think you have a player with the ability to be far better than Clichy.

But then again he's still far better than Kolorov, I don't think I have ever seen that guy run. Jogs up to take a freekick, misses then strolls back leaving a massive gap in City's defence. No one seems to want to buy full backs that can actually defend.

gibbs is even worse.

Although clichy can't cross, and gets nervous when when under pressure and loses concentration from time to time.

He is still a good reliable left back and deserves a new contract on at least 55k a week.

I thought Sagan has the got the right point. What amazes me someone other than Arsenal fan advises us to play Gibbs in place of Clichy. how funny is that?

That's a stupid statement. He reached out to Chelsea when the club gave him a salary offer just 5,000 / week lower than what he asked, then went ahead and sued us when we fined him for the illegal approach. Then he was sold to Chelsea for 5M plus Gallas who had just one year left on his contract. So we got a raw deal in terms of money. We got a good player in Gallas no doubt. But Cole's move showed that the big two were not United and Arsenal anymore but Chelsea had barged in.

Is Gibbs really that bad?

I always thought he looked to have great potential, made mistakes but he's still young. A player like him just needs games and experience. I'm not saying he's as good as the Da Silva twins but they also made a lot of mistakes but have improved so much in the past 2 years.

no, he's just majorly injury prone.

What many didn't notice was that at the start of last season he was getting picked ahead of clichy, when fit. the trouble was that 'when fit' bit.... he is quite possibly more injury prone that RvP. we can only hope he grows out of that.
