What it tells us, Serial is that every club has a proportion of fans that wouldn't recognise a brain cell if it hit them in the face. Football crowds mirror society, and with the knowledge that people need a licence to have a dog, but any old p i l l o c k can have a child, it is a certainty that a percentage of the populace will be a few sandwiches short of a picnic. So, as your examples illustrate, best to look close to home before moral outrage becomes the order of the day.

Incidentally, has anyone seen the abuse Colin Bloomfield has come under from the red dogs on twitter, just because he didn't hear it at the time? He condemned it as soon as he heard about it.
No, no, no. Please don't do this. I don't give a toss what questionable chants Forest or any other fans have sung in the past. It was a minority, but I still expect better of my fellow Derby fans. Let's not deflect or point fingers, it's unbecoming.
Colin quite understandably, can be forgiven for not hearing it at the time, wearing headphones. Listening to the commentary on Ramsplayer, I also didn't hear it.
Bolder: I don't think we're deflecting, but I for one will not take responsibility for people who haven't been brought up properly., and ceratinly don't speak/chant/sing on my behalf. I was brought up to show some resopect, and so I hold my head high. I do, however, unequivocally disassociate myself from such rabble .

Ahh the best way to claim back the moral high ground is to make unfounded accusations! You've a beatiful future ahead of you in the EDL or Murdochs gutter press!
It wasn't great having seats hurled down at us either though after the final whistle. My first ever time away at Derby and it will be my last
Red Dog really is the worst insult in the world
especially as you lot are sheep!
WOOF

As there were no Derby fans sitting above you, have you considered that maybe, just maybe it was your fellow Notts fans who were "hurling their seats down" at you???
Mate, if you are sat in the corner then yes there are fans above us you mug!
Do you actually know / go to your own ground Ramski?
Notts
Red Dog
these insults are just getting so hurtful
Well I was sitting in the West Stand, high up near the away fans who were to the side of us.
There were no seats being smashed up, why would there be? It's our ground. We won
There was also a line of stewards there at the edge of the stands. Sorry, it didn't happen, Forest fans have a history of smashing up our ground, seem to remember huge damage to the toilet block a few seasons back, so it's pretty clear who lobbed their seat at you.
If its every team why is that the first time we have heard the chant then? Surely other teams would have chanted it before now if all teams have this problem?
It's just deflecting it. We lost but a minority of derby fans have shamed their club and shamed football. I have heard some dodgy chants before at lots of clubs but never so loud. It was audible on the radio! It was also mentioned on sky, it rarely reaches those proportions!
well think that if you want pal but I know what I saw
Chants directed at Kris Commons' baby.
Chants directed at Robbie Savage's father.
Chants at Leeds fans in the same week Gary Speed died.
-------------------------------------------
I'm sorry, what?
Commons' got stick, but not THAT stick. Stuff like "Fatboy, what's the score" and "shoud have stayed at the big club" etc but nothing about his kid.
Got nothing to stay re Savage, yes he was massively disliked but no-one cared enough to chant against him.
The Gary Speed accusation is the best of the bunch. We were the first to play Leeds afterwards, and I for one didn't hear any chanting of that sort. Although, the Leeds rabble had their usual anti-Clough tirade...
