GKMC was good but overrated in my opinion, I'm with DJ where it took me a while to get into. Kept trying to listen to it because of the reviews it was getting getting but it literally took me about 7 listens to actually finish it without skipping at least half of it. Lyrically Kendrick's a beast I just thought the beats were bland.
Rarely watch battles but this is classic.

As a young man from South-East London, I love grime. This is one of the realest freestyles that I have heard from a British artist. It may not be to your tastes, but it is refreshing for someone of my age.

Is Akala "Grime"? I always thought him more 'Intellectual Rap' more in a similar category to the likes of Common, Lupe, Kidz In The Hall etc.
"Conscientious Rap" may be the more accepted term...
To be fair, how you've categorised him is a fairer reflection of what he raps about, as well as his style. He's one of the few that actually spits some sense.
Not really that knowledgeable about who fits into what category regarding Brits, but for me grime meant the likes of Wiley and Dizzee Rascal and the rap/dance music combo. Light on lyrics heavy on club themes.
That's what happens when they become mainstream. I don't know what I would refer to that as. They didn't get to where they now are by performing tunes like they do now.
For example, Dizzee Rascal's 'Boy In Da Corner' feels like it was created by a different guy.
Do you like London Posse, AFL? Bit before your era, but if you want to represent your South London roots they should be up your ally.
That is all the UK Hip-Hop I really cared for as a youngster, London Posse and Credit to the Nation then the likes of Roots Manuva and Skinnyman.
I got Boy in da Corner, and Wileys first album, and tbh they were the things I was referring to rather than the more chart orientated recent stuff.
I hadn't actually listened to any of their music, but I've spent the last 20 minutes or so doing just that. I have to say that I'm liking what I'm hearing.
Listened to the latest giggs album?
He's probably the one british grime artist I'm really into
Should go to the MLS, would suit him down to the ground.
F me this was suppose to go on the David Bentley article on the Spurs board
Benny, either you have confused Giggs the rapper with Giggs the footballer, or you have answered the Bentley thread on here.
Just got back from a run and I'm a bit light-headed.
I apologize
I was a huge fan of Giggs, his tune 'Talkin Da Hardest' set off like wildfire at my Secondary School. Unfortunately, he fell off a bit, but I think that his tune 'Is It Gangsta' is fairly decent.
What do people think about Devlin? I liked the art of rolling and Bud, sweat and beers but his recent album was a dissapointment for me
meh, started out alright, fell off a bit
