I was just disagreeing with your comment that Em keeps it real. His last two albums should not even be classed as hip-hop.

Jay is comfortably better than Em btw.

Im with that, I liked the Black album and the earlier Blooprints. Annoys me that he sings songs like D.O.A (which I love) and then raps with Kanye/Mr Hudson

How exactly is he not keeping it real? because he uses guitars and a live band?

Didn't jay-z work with linkin' park.

Recovery won HIP-HOP album of the year at the grammys also.

And as for comfortably better than em, the only time they've come up against each other Em thrashed him.

For me this is a bit like Arguing who is better Nottingham Forrest or Leeds United.

Both were once pretty great but are now has-beens.

They're both being drowned out by nonsense dance music.

8Bit, do you mean Pete Rock?

BTW, for all the bits I missed...

Illmatics best track imo is Lifes A Beyatch.

Doggystyle was a classic, but most of Snoops stuff since has been very average.

Jay Z has released more quality albums than most.

Rakims best album was definitely Paid In Full. Didn't particularly get into his solo career, got the 18th Letter, but it had a bonus disc with classics on so the actual album got overlooked!

Eminem is okay, but he has a blueprint and sticks to it. To be brutally honest I cannot remember if I even have hos last couple of albums.

Eminem is more of a lyricist than an MC. If he didn't have rap he could probably do story-telling in some form. Rakim always said that.

Anyone who doesn't like Mos Def, doesn't like hip-hop.
