Donny and Kilmarnock

Well done Shiels and Heffs. Great for them.

Sadly, according to Wiki (so could be wrong) Killie have not qualified for Europe. The number of European places for Scottish clubs has been reduced over the years due to the poor showing of Scottish clubs in Europe. Automatic qualification of league cup winners has been a victim of this. The last league cup winners to get a place in Europe were Raith Rovers in 1995/96

So if anything, the article makes this post makes the point about the Scottish premier league being one of the weaker european leagues when you look into the facts.

Besides, even if Killie had qualified, they'd be entering the UEFA league at the 2nd Qualifying round at latest. The Welsh runners-up enter at this stage. Should we start saying the Welsh Premier League is of a comparable standard to the Championship because they have teams qualifying for Europe?

Shame for Heffs and Shiels that they probably won't play in Europe though.

Ionly, how does this prove the level that Scottish football is at? All it's proved is killie beat celtic 1-0. Nothing to do with the standard of football played!

Huge congrats to the 2 lads though. Much rather have heffs still at the club than 'barn door'.

Because, BEFORE the master of stats fkd me up. i believed that that league SPA are every better than most in English Championship so that is why. in the English PL you only have about 8 clubs that are excellent and have the money to operate at a senior level and that is another reason on a comparison that was my opinnion only. But Heffs and Shields can now put two fingers up to Donny if they want, Donny may go down and they have cup final winners medals. In Particular they can give two fingers to Mr Sean O'Driscoll and for that matter so can I

i that that (old bent fingers) plus I have just cleaned drains out and have small faces LP very load. (For the under 60's) You call them vinyls

Didnt the Small Faces do a song about the father of a Man Utd player?
I think it was called Itchikoo Park or something.

Was truly a great day for the supporters of kilmarnock well done! I would also add for a small part the players until unfortunately one of the players fathers passed away amidst the celebrations.

Fuzzys right unfortunately for heffs/shiels and co the sfa stopped a european place being gained through winning the league cup instead its just there fa cup which rewards a club with european football and/or the top 4 finishing teams in the spl. Really a shame but its a piece of silverware for them and 2 fingers to neil lennon aswell Ionly! <Ok>

Hound - Yep "Itchycoo Park is correct.. Nice to see you relaxing in the passenger seat again, or is it that you have no choice, the boss says so.

More importantly the father of the Killy player had collapsed and died before his son received his medal. And Kenny Shields placed the matter in perspective because as he says "The man upstairs" puts things in order, sadly a lot of the time it is the wrong order as we have seen at Kilmarnock and Bolton.

Unfortunately one we'll never know the answer to ionly. Scotland is worse than the EPL as only 2 teams are any good & even then probably no better than an average championship side. Killie are probably no better than Rovers, but have made a huge success of Heffs & Deano. Shame our recent managers never saw the potential in either. Although I think So'D never forgave Heffs for that red card, even after he saved our first season up with his goals.

Ooooohhh some people get soooooo touchy.

In the end, the quality of a league is as good as the players in it. That meane that it is as good as the amount of money available to pay players.

The championship has that £100M increase of income over 4 years available to 3 clubs each season (depending on parachute payments). It tempts people to put money in or to borrow money they haven't got.

Scottish football just doesn't have that carrot and that's probably a good thing when you see what is happening to Rangers!

Me ? Not touchy at all. Just do not like Sean O'Driscoll but everyone knows that and you certainly do because I told you face to face. Not Touchy Fuzzy! Just really gald for our two former Celts.

Bally,
tried to phone you today, number ending in 0, but number unobtainable? I am trying to get to the KM for just before 7 Tuesday(leaving London at 4), probably have a McD and then a pint. If you can make it we could talk through mobiles. NY has my mobile number but I will remind him via email tonight. I won't be able to convert you to be a SOD man but you will get an equal, opposite yet truthful view. Perhaps we can meet up this time but I know the chances are slim because of the time factor.

This is the big decisive game for me.

Pity we didn't play Shiels more - if we had, maybe he'd have stayed - his ability to play clever 1-2s and make dangerous runs, bursting into the opposition's box is sorely missed. Much has been said about Heffs. Apart from his finishing, he was also great at holding the ball up and bringing others in to play. Anyway, what's done is done but huge congratulations to both of them - chuffed for them both!

As much as i was a fan of Heffs we should not forget that he went to Sheff Wed before Scotland and he didnt manage to break into their team as a regular and they were in L1.
Alex, where will you be sitting in the ground tonight?

Hound,
I will be in the South Stand, slightly to the left, half way up, facing the pitch( that's fortunate sometimes). About the fourth seat in. How about you?

I am a season ticket holder but this is only my second home game of the season and as my brother holds on to the ST I have no idea of the number.

Alex

i have received a mobile number from Yankee and will ring. I don't get to Tuesday matches as I have my little girl, so will ring you around 7pm.

Hound,
we may well be sitting next to each other. I don't know if you know my brother Norman but he seems to know everyone around him.

Bally,
Pity as this is probably my last game at the KM this season. Speak to you later.

posted on 20/3/12

Alex, not quite next to each other, from what you say we are on either side of the central walkway.
I'm in seat 360 if you want to make yourself known.

posted on 20/3/12

I think Hound will also know N, as they are both from T horne and have an affinity to round balls unlike me who likes oval ones better.

Did Norman ride a motorbike for a while as part of his job?
