Anelka and Alex had to Go

Agreed, we want the ageing players slowly out, we move to get 2 of them out and we say we should have kept them

I can just visualise this time next year already

"Malouda was amazing for us, he always was one of the best players on the pitch and put so much effort in".

Does any one remember the Anelka of 2010/2011? he was just as frustrating to watch as Malouda and Kalou if not more.

please stop posting this rubbish, your talking if ands & buts.

its clear AVB didnt have a clue what he was doing with the team, the continuos formation are testement to the point he was still experiementing.

Allowing two very experianced internationals who were still performming was not the brightest move.

AVB has left us in mess. Asking top4 finish is not a lot.

With the easiest set of fixtures he had, he messed up bug time.

Now we have to play all top teams away and though with a mini miracle we might pull it through. Based on what AVB did, worst manager ever at Chelsea and stats backed that up

I didn't mind them going. Anelka wasn't the player he was. Alex is a great, great player but too injury prone and so the difficult but correct decision was made for them to go.

The apparent manner in which they treated by AVB was nothing short of abysmal though.

afke, you are being silly, AVB hadnt worked out how to best use the squad, letting these players leave mid season is madness.

Also please stop comparing Malouda as a cfc player to Anelka.

Just rewind a minute, can you actually remember Anelka's display's of 2010/2011 and whenever he got a game under AVB?

I think this is the case of time away has made some of you forget just how poor his performances actually were.

akfe, look mate i view a player like Anelka over his career, not becuase he had a poor run of form or is playing out of postion due to tactics.

Anelka was pure class, only a seriously deluded chap would suggest otherwise.

anyway my point is that he shouldnt of been let go mid season.

"Anelka was pure class, only a seriously deluded chap would suggest otherwise."

So because he was class at his peak we should keep in the squad until he is 50 on the off chance he might roll back the years once or twice a season?

Anelka had to go.

He was a very good signing for 15 million and he gave us a couple of great years - especially when we won the Double.

Having said that it was very clear that Anelka´s performances were in serious decline and I don´t see how anyone can argue that he should still be a Chelsea player.

Alex is a slightly different story although he was very injury-prone and I suspect that Alex wanted to leave Chelsea for whatever reason.

From what I´ve seen of Cahill he is more than an adequate replacement for Alex in the squad.

Alex made too many errors in the last 6 months, infact he was actually quite prone to the odd brain fart or 2 imo.

akfe -chelseaililic, look lads i cant see the point of letting such a player go mid season .

im not suggesting that we should keep untill he was 50, i do agree in fact he was at the end of his cfc career ,but to be discarded mid season by a manager who clearly was not at decided what the hell he was doing, is proof that the abuse issue was partly AVB doing.

Don't see the argument for keeping them even in hindsight. Anelka's departure has freed up space for Lukaku (he now gets the bench on occasion, as apposed to never). And Cahill has proven to be an upgrade so far. Both were also positive reinforcement in keeping with the age and nationality restrictions of the league.

freed up for lukaku ? look against the likes of Barce we need options which Anelka give us.

to have Alex in the squad in this period would do us no harm

Anelka sent a transfer request, the club didn't forve him out

Realistically can we get rid of Lampard at the end of the season if he scores 20goals in all competitions again?

posted on 19/3/12

His stats so far this season (13 goals 7 assists) are already marginally better than his stats for the whole of last season (13 goals 6 assists). I know he was injured for a period last season, but he's been rotated somewhat this season.

I would sell him but he'll probably go for a free in summer 2013

I think that his future at CFC is in his own hands. He could accept a phasing out over time (which has already begun). But if I were him, i'd be off to America, or PSG, or Italy... Big bucks, adulation, a few more years in the sun... And his Chelsea reputation is (mostly) untarnished.
