very balanced if I may say lfcbow, with some exceptions. Jose for me has been fantastic, he gets stuck in. Against Sunderland however, he appeared second best. Both Hendo and Downing continue to impress, a pity about Adam, I'm sure he can put in better performances. Bellamy light up the field but I dont think he will see beyond next season at best. Carroll, I've got to disagree; he is just not making it. Agger, bless him, is too fragile for my liking, I can see Coates coming in more than before. Lets see what the remainder of the season brings. In the meantime Damien, identfy and sign a striker, please. JimmyTheRed

Hendo's got it in him. wait and see. If you cannot see it, may I recommend that you watch other exciting sports, like synchronised swimming, or darts. You never know, you might get a buzz out of it. JimmyTheRed

There's no doubt that Henderson, Downing and Carroll have a lot to prove, but whereas I think confidence is the main thing inhibiting Henderson and Downing (well, that and the fact that I think Henderson is far more suited to the centre), I just really can't see Carroll ever justifying his place if we're going to be gunning for the Champions League places next year.

His conversion rate is atrocious, and whilst that accusation can be levelled at Suarez too, Suarez's all-round game is fantastic, whereas Carroll doesn't really have an all-round game.

He's improved, and he deserves credit for that, but it says a lot that people are impressed that he's taking the ball on the chest and laying it off to midfielders, rather than taking the ball on his chest and tripping over.

On the whole, we're slicker without him, and I do worry about how long we're going to give him to prove himself. I'd be delighted if I was wrong and he turned out to be a pony-tailed Drogba, but I can't see that happening at all.

Just bought a shirt with Suarez >7<

How can you ever question his quality? He still amazed me in every single game he played and people shouldn't judge the man on his goals. He is the biggest nightmare for a defender to come across.

Carroll needs to be transfered this summer. He's just no good.

I don't think that's true. I think our better performances have been with Carroll in the team. I think we also have a better win record with him in the team.

thanks jimmy, trying to be as balanced as possible.

I think we have had good performances with carroll in and out of the team. i think the first 5 minutes of the game define whether we are going to play well or not. We don't seem to have the ability to go through the gears to win games.

Agree with the OP on most, I believe hendo will be a good player for us but at the moment he is scared to do anything ambitious which is a real shame, maybe a few sub appearances will help with less expectation.
Spearing has been fantastic, I for one thought he would be shipped out like Guthrie and become a squad player elsewhere.
Need a goal scorer in the squad though despoeatly

Maybe we do have a better win rate with him in the team, but I wouldn't read an awful lot into that - we hadn't won a Premiership game that Gerrard had started for some inordinate amount of time before Tuesday, if I remember correctly.

I know we lost against Arsenal, but we were playing some scintilating stuff that day; I don't think we'd have played that well with Carroll in the team.

In a nutshell....hendo ain't a winger. That's why he looks poor, play him centrally and you will a major difference.

Its like playing fifa with Liverpool, you never seem to fit in everyone and hendo just got stuck out of position to accommodate others.

JImmy, you telling me to watch other sports is like me telling Pacino to learn how to act.
Whether or not Henderson has it in him, and four good games out of 35 leaves a lot to be desired, actually has nothing to do with my post. Maybe you can tell me where and when he has 'started to impress' cos he is playing far worse than he did in the first third of the season. Maybe if I sign off my posts with my name, people will take it easier on me because they'll think I'm mentally challenged.
It works for you.

Henderson has been average all season, people see average as a bad thing but for me, Henderson as a twenty-one year old lad, in a new team, to hold his own as one of the average players is fine. However it won't always be like that, as next season he'll be expected to improve. I don't think there is anybody who can't see the potential Henderson has, so we should certainly stick by him, he'll be a great player for us, I'm sure of it.

Lambo, you're doing exactly what a lot of our fans did to Lucas a few seasons ago. Every misplaced paced met with groans etc. He is 22. Give him a chance. He is not the finished article and I and others have seen enough in him to see that he is going to be a good footballer. I saw the signs in Lucas and gave him no stick and I will also do the same with Henderson.

Patience is the key word.
