NJS, appreciate your positive outlook. But, the
playoffs are a non-starter for us. We're done.
We're also safe from relegation. And we have a top
manager in place. He can keep assessing this
squad and know exactly who needs to exit it come
the summer. I have faith in NW. Not the squad.
Well, looks like we've got eight friendlies left now.
So who's the next manager...I thought a new manager
was supposed to give a team a lift up...not a lift down!
NJS, NW has worked a miracle getting anything out
of what SG left. And there won't be much of that mess
left come summer. Revolving door at TA quite soon.
Grayson has alot to answer for with garbage he brought in.
Big Job for Warnock but at least I've seen signs that he'll do well and that's what I cling to
Batty...even if Warnock was relatively successful he's
not there for any decent length of time...so it's a
piecemeal appointment at best...until they get a
manager with a real vision for the club and given
enough time to put his stamp on the club, Leeds
will be an average outfit at best!
Njs
Why can't he be here for a decent length of time
I give him 2 years at most, just my opinion...my gut
feeling he's just filling in time and will want to go back
down south!
Lowfields, getting 11 previously, headless chickens, to work together as an organized team. That was a miracle.
Tonight was 180 from the other performances under NW.
Njs
I do see where you coming from, I like to see a long term plan too.
The problem with Grayson was even though he was young everything he did was short term, loans journeymen etc etc
Tez, he's your problem now. Be afraid.
the best managers Leeds have had since Revie,
have been managers given time to immerse them
selves in the club, with long term plans...Wilkinson,
arguably O' Leary...though I wasnt a great fan of his!
Because he's not interested in Leeds, just his own ego in getting his record number of promotions, however it's achieved. Even if that succeeds, there is every chance we would have a team nowhere near fit for purpose and Wakner gone as quickly as you can say 'insincere'. I bet he cannot believe managing a club like ours and having people blowing smoke up his harris as if he's the only manager out there.
Njs
I agree with you saying but it vital you give the right man the time
Grayson wasn't that man
There's nothing saying Neil can't/won't be here long-term. I prefer to see how this plays out. If come summer
Bates says "Neil, here's 3k, go get us some journeymen." Then, we're toast. If, on the other hand
he says "Go get the players you need for your system."
Then I'm inclined to think he might be here longer than most think. And we might be good again.
Liw...you maybe right, but how many times you
going to sack the manager? Is Warnock the seventh
manager in 7 years?
You cant just keep sacking managers...statistics
tell you the more you sack the manager the least
successful you are!
Njs
Employ the right one in the first place
Well that's great in theory and fantastic if it works out
but how many of us have 20/20 vision...apart from of
course 20/20Vision!
With Bates in charge though everything is short term because if you don't get us up, you're out! Also what's the point bringing the youth on because if they are any good, Ken will sell them anyway. Everything is about now, because there is no guarantee that our top players remaining will be here much longer.
The only consolation I take from tonight is that it might
well be the game that turns the tide...so shocking was
the result for the club!
Njs
That is the hard bit.
Id love to be able to sit down with perspective managers and listen to their vision
I think that with a DECENT TRANSFER BUDGET Warnock will definitely be the right man and we should give him time, 2 or 3 years if needed.
My fear is that over summer when's he's trying to bring in quality, Warnock will witness first hand like Grayson did what a tightar$e our chairman is with transfer fees and wages and he will walk... after all what does he have to gain from this job apart from a promotion ego boost...
Things got rough at Palace and he walked, if Bates doesn't back him properly this summer he'll do likewise.
