Derby County 1 - 3 Bristol City

DERBY COUNTY v BRISTOL CITY Championship # 44

Saturday 23rd April 2022. Pride Park Stadium, half a mile from the Merlin, one mile fromThe Brunswick Inn, Derby

FECK the EFL

I wanted to say something really inspiring and Amhran na bhFiann-ish with a little bit of La Marseille thrown in but it is what it is and we know where we are......so lets enjoy it.

Hopefully any 'takeover' will go smoothly - you've go to expect so now that we've spared the EFL's blushes and conveniently got relegated. But it was a close run thing and maybe next time they'll be a bit more carefully when deducting 21 points. Maybe make it 30 or 35 points to be absolutely sure. And whilst we're on it, who the hell came up with 6, 9, 12 or 21 points deductions?

Lovely weather for it on Saturday and Mrs View will be sporting her new first team shirt which I have assured her will still be valid for a few years and will not change. Am expecting a big crowd tomorrow and as its 7 years to the day sine Colin 'Bloomers' Bloomfield of RD left us, there is going to be a round of applause on 40 mins .

Allegedly WR has already starting planning for next season which sounds promising and we can maybe start speculating who should be offered new contracts.

Max Bird should be available, yes available VC but Lawrence will NOT be. Funny to think that we may have seen the last of Lawrence at Pride Park . Other players available for selection on Saturday include Chris Martin and Andreas Weimann.

First XI: Allsop, Byrne, Forsyth, Bird, Morrison, Stearman, Ebiowei, Davies (C), Watson, Thompson, Cybulski.

Subs: Roos, Sibley, Buchanan, Knight, Richards, Robinson, Plange.

I was privileged to follow the game this week as usual, solely via this thread (thanks to being temporarily confined to a Barcelona hospital).
Must say that comments were not too informative and the result left something to be desired.
S’pose you can’t get it right all the time.

I blame View and Ang, Cat.

Both in 'holiday' mode I'm afraid.

Well, that, no signal and no charge left on the phone

I seem to remember an old saying that whenever the Rams are doing badly, the cricket team do well.
Has anyone else heard anything on those lines.

I think 'After the Lord Mayors Show' is a good phrase, Terry. Perhaps I expected too much from my first visit in almost 3 years and my pent-up energy was a bit over the top in the circumstances.
Taking on a mid-table Championship side with essentially the u23 midfield and attack was a step too far, especially with old heads like Matty James, Martin & Weimann in the team. They did well under the circumstances and none of them let us down.
Just a word about Bart. Yes, he is of Polish parentage & birth, but he's been in the UK since the age of 4 and has been with the Rams since the u9s. He's done well to be selected for the Polish u19s squad and he deserves our respect for that.
COYR.

Not disrespecting Bart, Ang....but "The Pole" seems to fit (to me) .... as he's built like a pole and he's Polish....but if people think I'm being disrespectful I'll just call him Bart. Cheers. Terry

Used to follow Derbyshire religiously when they had Devon Malcolm and Dominic Cork in the squad. Not followed County cricket since they implented the silly changes and ridiculous names.

I watched the last four wickets fall today

First time we've won a game by an innings in 11 years and that was v Leic's too.
