PSG seem to have had the best draw.

Somewhat mental that UEFA managed to get the top 4 favourites into one half of the draw.

I think it’s more about being “on the line” and thereby is he on or offside.

A penalty is given if there is a foul on the line of the box, so does that translate into a player being in the other half if he is similarly on the line? Or is it the case that being on the line put him back into his own half?

I can see why the question is asked but I don’t see any bears complaining about it to be fair.

For me it would be better that there has to be daylight between players for an offside to be given. It is what it is now and at least we don’t get anywhere near the same amount of errors on offside decisions as we used to have.

Changing the reference point changes nothing about the process - the VAR will still have to do the precise frame & line drawing stuff to determine if there was 'daylight'.

My OP was a little tongue in cheek. I personally think the idea of someone being ‘offside’ on the Halfway line is slightly bonkers - but appreciate they literally have to draw the line somewhere.
A Benfica player being ‘offside’ on the Halfway line from a Rangers corner seems to be in the ‘extremes’ of why the Offside rule exists. Also appreciate there is no general outcry from the bears on this.

I think Wengers argument was that if the ‘Offside Rule’ should always work in favour of the attacking team (where it is contentious) then the rule should be: if any part of the attacking players body is Onside - they are on. Rather the opposite (current rule).
