In a slower less physical league playing for a team who dominates and the possession every game. There's no way he is a defensive shield and certainly not in the PL. He's 5'7.

Yeah Kante is different, he's like Mascherano where his pace and aggression, as well as his awareness and sense of danger makes up for the strength. Thiago is a completely different player.

Yeah when has height ever mattered for a midfielder. Most of them are manlets.

For defensive midfielder it has always mattered. There are very few defensive midfielders(or shields as he was called above) who aren't strong.

We need to keep Wij and also look to sign Thiago. Next season has already lost a month so more midweek games meaning more rotation.

Brewster has been completely anonymous this match and then finishes a chance from nothing. I get the feeling he'll always be that kind of player, the issue is, klopp Will never really go with that type of player.
If he's not with us next season, and I hope he is, he'd better go on loan to a prem club.

Bundesliga is physically on the same level. The average German teams prefer big guys with stamina who can run all day but with the added technical ability.
Thiago is more about interceptions than tackling and is very good in the pressing.
Gundogan, Verratti, Fernandinho, Cazorla are not tall either but are very good players defensively.
