Remember when we kept Moreno around because he kept spirits up in training

EXCL: Liverpool expect Mo Salah to stay & are planning with him for at least another campaign. 31yo has given no indication of wanting out + contract to be addressed in due course. Saudi view is Salah intends to remain at #LFC next season @TheAthleticFC

There's definitely some room in the budget next season when looking at the players who are guaranteed/highly likely to go without selling Salah. FWIW, I think we should sell him if a huge offer comes in but I can understand those who say he should stay no matter what.

If rumoured fees/wages are to believed, the club will be avoiding costs of nearly 30M next year simply by turfing out the following:

Thiago - 8M transfer fee amortisation and 10M wages (200k per week)
Matip - 5M wages (100k per week, no TFA)
Adrian - 3M wages (60k per week)
Phillips - 3M wages (60kpw)

30M per year reduction in opex allows based on 5 year contracts and 100kpw wages to buy two players at fees of 50M each. And this is before considering that revenue will be higher next season due to CL money.

Obviously bit of a back of a ciggie packet calc but there will be money available for Edwards to spend. Just depends on how much surgery he thinks the squad needs. I think Edwards is a bit egotistical so I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to ring the changes though, especially if the rumours are true about his unhappiness with Klopp's say in squad management over the last few years.

You do have to factor in that Trent is looking at a new contract up to the 300k a week range

Klopp
Pep
Thiago
And perhaps Salah

All leaving would be quite a lot of wages off the books. Replacements will be on a fraction of those wages too.

I think Trent will get offered around similar to what Van Dijk & Thiago are on...probably with bigger bonuses on his personal targets maybe

If there’s a contract I’m happy enough with that resolution.

Trent is on 180k a week already. He is looking at what the other England boys are on and wants parity. This is why it has dragged on. We probably thought 250k a week would be enough but he wants more (my assumption).

I really want Trent to stay and I think he will.

If he does go though it'll be fascinating to watch how his reputation with rival fans goes from liability with Liverpool, to world class with RM...

Been thinking about it and I do genuinely think we're a DM away from a very good team. Should make a marginal difference with dealing with counterattacks and defending set-pieces. Endo will still get plenty of minutes if that's the case

Not sure exactly how Slot set-ups but 4-2-3-1 just reminds me of peak Benitez

Also sorry to inject a sombre notion here but my folks had to put our family dog to sleep this morning. Honestly nobody warns you about how that’s going to feel

Sorry to hear that Fred. Our family (/my childhood) dog died almost 30 years ago now, I still think about him regularly. They become part of your life, part of your memories.

Issue there was always that Torres was injury prone and the back-ups were not up to it

Squad has shown it's in good shape this year given all our forwards have decent hauls and we've done great with sub appearances. Just need a player or two to complete this team, won't take much I think

Plenty of people underestimate the pain losing a pet feels. Those morons who say "its only a dog" really can get to feck as far as I'm concerned.
