Then he took a worse squad and finished 11th after a quarter of the season gone!

You've had a bad season bud don't let it cloud your judgement bud.

That was down to Holloway. He took them from nothing to a position where they can grow.

And they have.

You've had a good season bud don't let it cloud your judgement bud.

Didn't Pulis apply for the Bilbao job a year ago? LOL

Ollie came in after Dougie leaving for Bolton. Ollie's record is p-ss poor bud and we just about made the play-offs despite being more than comfortable before he came!
Yeah, we won the final but then Ollie went on the biggest shopping spree in history (I didn't say the most expensive ) and it all went wrong.
Our best result last season was getting humped 1-4 by Fulham and Ollie, much respect to the man, holding his hands up the next day and leaving by mutual consent.
So no, Ollie really didn't do too much tbh.

It's such a lazy claim to suggest La Liga is a poor league.
---------------------------

I said that 'overall', from top to bottom that La Liga is not as strong.

@Daz...............Why wouldn't he be worth mentioning considering what he's achieved? Manager of the season etc etc. Stop being bitter............great things can equally happen outside of OT. You don't own the rights bud

I know I've said it a couple of times, but by god you are by far the worst poster on this site. Just leave and join a Crystal Palace forum! No one ever agrees with you on here because you're a biased moron who doesn't understand football.

The average standard of footballer is much better in la liga than the EPL.

Soldado aside Spanish or other players coming in to the EPL from la liga have been very good. Most didn't play for Real or Barca.

Arteta, Alonso, Torres (before the meltdown), Riena, Mata, Silva, Aguero, Navas, Cazorla, Michu, Monreal, Negredo, Azpilicueta, De Gae, Ozil, Demichalis.

Some younger defenders also kicking as well like Muniesa so will be interesting to see how they develop.

Tux, it beggars belief mate.

Slamming the depth of La Liga when you witnessed the back end of its golden age...

It might have faded from memory, but leaving the big two aside for a minute, it was a period where teams like Celta were busy beating the reigning European Champions AC Milan on their own turf in the CL and getting relegated in Spain at the same time. Villarreal made the CL semis in their maiden CL season. Deportivo and Valencia made CL finals or semis. Spanish sides won the UEFA Cup more than any other country in that spell (all-Spanish final featuring Espanyol and Sevilla included). Atleti struggled to even stay in the division. The period saw 8 different cup champions (none of them Madrid and only one title for Barça). It also saw 13 different finalists. The only repeat winners were Zaragoza, who also spent a couple of seasons during you stay in the second tier.

La Liga held top spot in Europe for the entire duration of your stay here, and that simply cannot be achieved by just two teams.

You talk about depth, and I'd invite you to add up the number of domestic games Madrid or Barça lost in the years you referenced, and compare them to the equivalent for United and Chelsea - or probably even United and Arsenal for that matter. You'd be in for a massive surprise; I think it's about 40% or 50% more.

You'd also be in for a huge surprise if you calculated aggregate goal differences and points tallies for Liga and PL relegated sides for the period, if you calculated aggregate number of points required to stay up (I think La Liga required about 5 more on average).

The number of pointers that suggest that, depth-wise, La Liga was for the majority of your stay in Spain vastly superior to the PL depth-wise is overwhelming.

But please don't take my word for it. By all means, do the numbers.

I don't know where you got you impressions from, but perhaps the lack of headless chickens on the pitch or long-balls knocking satellites out of orbit simply confused you.
