In case we all forgot

Not inconceivable but not particularly likely, either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah as long as you ignore the fact it's happened for years and there's billions of money's involved, sure. Very unlikely
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Even the examples you gave bear no resemblance to this scenario.

Corruption in football doesn’t generally play out the way these decisions did last night.

But I appreciate you’re somewhat a conspiracy theorist on this subject, so crack on.

Lol it's not about me being a conspiracy theorist (I was being facetious in my comment above and don't really care), I literally shared a factual story about games in the Champions League being fixed.

There's tons of evidence out there. Like
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21319807

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not saying every game is fixed but a lot of them are. And if I had to guess it's a mix of the high profile ones, like World Cups and Champions Leagues, and the cheaper/easier ones to fix that you can still gamble on.

I done a article before about how little refs are paid compared to players and how much clubs make and are worth in comparison etc. and how this may lead to the temptation for refs to take bribes.

"It would be naive and complacent of those in the UK to think such a criminal conspiracy does not involve the English game and all the football in Europe."

I mean, you do what you like. But I'm going in with my eyes open

The Video Assistant Referee is paid £837 per match in the PL.

Just let that sink in compared to how many millions are at stake per match....

Kinda surprised at people who have watched the game so long acting surprised that it might be fixed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If if the idea is that it's fixed and Madrid have to win it, why does the ref disallow Madrid's 90th-minute winner, only for VAR to demonstrate it was well onside?

And then why does he add way over the allotted time when he could easily have blown up a good minute and a half earlier? I read elsewhere that the ref actually signalled two more minutes to be added to the original 9 of stoppage time ... but the incident that suggests the "fix" doesn't occur until after 102:30.

The ref jumped the gun, perhaps even in a slight panic because he knew he was way over time, but it's a pretty weak case unless you wilfully ignore the rest of the context.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plausible deniability
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Right. Let's allow the game to continue as long as nevessary until there's a decision we can give Madrid and then deny we were simply looking for an opportunity to lend them a hand.

Ref crapped himself because he knew he way waaay over the allocated time and had already tried to rule out a perfectly good winner. If Bayern had equalised (remember, they didn't, the whistle had blown before and half Madrid's players had actually stopped playing) and then gone on to nab it in extra time (we all know they wouldn't have) the ref would've had to answer some even more uncomfortable questions.

They are so far up Kane's backside that you could also accommodate the titanic in there too.

Opening paragraph:

"When Harry Kane was on the pitch, Bayern Munich were heading to the Champions League final. When he wasn't there, they weren't - and aren't."
