Sunday was the first time you started to see rodgers game plan click. Think we just need to be patient and adapt to this new football.

Yeah ange was the best ive seen but rodgers brand wasnt that bad either.

i didn't see much click to be honest, we hardly cut rangers open, or controlled the ball.

Rangers were poor but that doesn't make us great.

luckily we have players to fit into the team and players to come back from injury.

Hart

Johnson
CCV
Narwoski
Taylor

McGregor
Hatate
O'Riley

Abada / Yang
Kyogo
Maeda / Palma

I'm interested in seeing if Holm and Bernardo can claim a spot in the midfield three. At least we have competition, pace, and creativity there now instead of having to rely on Turnbull as our sole back up.

Feel a bit sorry for Iwata who hasn't really put a foot wrong despite being asked to play in multiple positions already. Looks neat and tidy on the ball but he's not taking McGregor's place anytime soon.

Plenty of options in the two attacking wide positions now too although time will tell if the new guys settle and hit the ground running.

CF is still a concern if either Kyogo or Oh pick up a significant injury.

LB is obviously the other major concern. Taylor isn't a traditional LB.. at least not a good enough one for Celtic. Scales blows hot and cold, not sure if he's good enough for us either.

i feel like iwata should be a better option than he is right now, defo has something about him and we should always have a player as versatile as that on the bench.

I think you see the impact of having no Jota

Yes £25M we couldn't turn down but that creativity needs replaced and as of yet I don't think it has

Watching Abada and Maeda trying to create is murder

Yang has the whole beat his man thing in his game but he seems to lack other elements

Frustrating also we are still going into CL football with Taylor as first choice LB

posted on 5/9/23

makes you realise how complete jota was, could beat a man, pass, cross, score goals.

just a wonderful player, we were so lucky to have him

Holm has looked really good , except for when he started against St Johnstone..he was wasteful and didn't look to have much going on his game .

He's a development player right now, no way would I trust him in a big game to start

Not sure what any of the new guys will bring bit hopefully they can step up

Agree

All that and he would work his socks off for the team

Wonderful player , sadly missed but he was brilliant to watch whilst here

Used to look at him think how the fck are you at celtic ?!

An injury to kyogo would be the biggest worry.

Its hard to see where else the goal would come from if he was out.

Is he away on international duty? Hopefully not.

international break gives me the fear, we always end up with casualties.

How much truth in Celtic accepting the bid from Leeds, but MOR turning down the move?

sounds believable to be fair

Interesting , i would have thought if a £10M bid came in for MoR then you would bite their hand off so definitely could be true

I like Oriley , he has a grounded feel to him - seems to appreciate the club

GK
Hart - is Siegrist really an alternative??
===

we had Bain on the bench on Sunday , this needs to be addressed as well - Bain is a complete donkey

The fact we didn't sign a GK or LB is still ridiculous.

Hart is in what has to be his final season, and despite a very string game yesterday is looking ropey at times. If Siegrist isn't the backup we need someone else as Bain is dung.

Same goes for LB, Bernabei yet to show he's any chance of displacing Taylor so we need someone who's able to push him for a starting place in the team.

We were briefly linked with Livakovic for GK but that was a pipe dream. The LB from Nantes didn't seem to have much truth in it either, but if that was our only two options then it's not good enough.

BUT - As stated above we now seem to have various CM and winger options which will hopefully bode well in a creative sense, but a lot of the guys are still to play, so it remains to be seen how it works out.

I really like the look of Holm. Early days but I think in time he will be an important player for us.

Kyogo and Oh for me both very good options, and I can only think Maeda/Palma will be used as 3rd/4th choice until we can get another striker in January.

I regularly think the same about Ralston, Taylor, McCarthy and Bain.

On the squad as it stands, it’s criminal that we haven’t strengthened at LB, and still have no decent back up (never mind competition) for Hart. We’re also left pretty much crossing our fingers that Kyogo stays fit at least till the next window, and that Palma has something about him that can at least partly fill the gaping hole in our creative attacking threat with Jota gone. As has been said, most of our news arrivals look like development projects, when we clearly needed another couple of ready made first teamers.

posted on 5/9/23

Harts doin alright i think , he had a good game at the weekend, but we need better overall.

posted on 5/9/23

There’s still plenty of areas that need strengthened, but like I said the other day, we’ve still got players who we’ve signed and haven’t kicked a ball for us yet. If they’re as good as they’re meant to be, then that will help us going forward-I hope.

Sunday was a good result and a decent performance, but I’m still not convinced. We’re going to drop way more points than we have in previous seasons with the way we play now. Going to be a long season.

exactly where i am at pov , sunday was a pleasant surprise but i don't think we played amazingly or anthing.

unless we become more assertive in our play it will be a long season.

I thought we played relatively well in the 1st half, can't remember us playing as well at Ibrox under Ange but that may also be something to do with the way Rangers approached Sunday

I think the win will do wonders for the squad after an indifferent start to the season, certainly seems like we were lacking a bit of confidence before it

Ditto. Sunday was an unexpected bonus, and buys BR some time. I’m still a long way from being convinced though, on both him and the current squad. Two things I’m 100% convinced about though … our CL campaign’s going to be a horror show, and he’ll outlast Beale.

mcgregor needs to turn on the ball when he receives it deep.

right now he is moving max 90 degrees and going sideways, needs to see the play in front of him and more importantly the playes need to move, its like table football right now, all rooted.
