No, but that's not the point I'm making among the many conclusions that could be reached by that equation.

Ok, let's try another. Were you a proponent for Spurs signing Palmer?
What’s with the ship that sank..
Palmer has been a revelation at Chelsea.
But what the saying.. through enough crap at a wall and eventually something will stick. Or something like that
BJ is doing alright though overall. He's started justifying the money paid in the last month or so.
very cool that you've figured out a way to turn this into a jab at one of our young players

Perfectly put considering the team he plays for. Nobody could have foreseen the season he's ended up having though.
I was just suggesting that maybe we overpaid or Chelsea underpaid.
What I will say, and I'd be very interested to see if anyone says different, I never watched Johnson at Nottingham and thought he was good and a bigger side should sign him. To me, he was just like a player, let's say, from Burnley who I couldn't recognise or name if he stood right I front of me.
Given how shiite defences are, you wouldn't think it would be that hard to find a player who can get close to 20 or more league goals (Son aside).
To be fair though,
I would not have recognised Vicario, VDV, or Bents before we were linked and I thought Bissouma was a great signing based on his form for Brighton.
Coke Palmer might have cost less, but at least it's legal to buy Brennan Johnson.

I thought Johnson would kick on tbh. First season with a big club so hopefully he will next season.

Success rate of 1 in 40 after spending nearly £2bn isn’t it?
Do we need to worry about Chelsea? You never know if the result against United was the kickstart they needed. Could be like Poch's Kane scoring the free kick against Villa moment in his first season with us.
He's class no doubt.....
Standard they find form just before we play them....🤣
Spurs entireback 5 and Sarr and Bisouma and Son cost less than Caicedo and Enzo.
Chelsea got lucky on one buy and over spent massively on everyone else.
Pathetic from the OP to pick on their only decent buy in a billion spent to make some stupid "let that sink in" hindsight wisdom BS post

I think you missed my point. My comment, at least when I wrote it had nothing to do with Chelsea, it was about us spending so much on an unheralded and under performing player when there were other options.
If Brennan was an U23 player coming through and had played as he has done, would he be anywhere near the first team?
We were never in or linked with Palmer and until the Charity Shield (or whatever it is called) I was not aware of him.
This is not really a dig at our scouting as we have actually had a good year for a change.
If we had bought Palmer, where would he of played?

who knows where he would of played. He might of played in a number 8 role. He of looked pretty good there this season. He could of played number 10. Either way, he probably wouldn't of so many goals cos we wouldn't of got so many pens as Chelsea of.
Brennan Johnson has more non-penalty goals and assists per 90 minutes than Saka and you don't think he deserves to be in our first team?
god some people really did make their mind up about him the second he signed
5 goals and 7 assists in 18 starts
the horror

Gents, opinions.
Doesn't take his man on, forever coming inside and back when his supposed best attribute is pace. Not a great crosser.
If you want to through some stats, look at the goals Sterling scored from getting to the back post with pace, wouldn't want him at Spurs.
Not saying I want him out, but he is taking up a place in the first team I don't think he has earnt or deserves.
Rather that stats, when watch a game, do you ever get the feeling he is a good positive contributor or a passenger in general.
I know my opinion, and I respect yours.
I hope he improves, he may very well do if we ever decide to play a No. 9
I honestly think Johnston will get better. He reminds me very much of Rashford in the way he plays. And will probably always be a hot and cold type player.
I of watched BJ a fair bit this season and I think he's been decent. Definitely inconsistent, and he needs to improve, but far from a problem or a bad signing.
