Looks like our men upstairs have highlighted him as the closest manager to maintain Klopp's philosophy. This is still a huge gamble for us.

Look out for Slot better on their board

This has got "after the Lord Mayor's show" written all over it. If Slot does fail at Liverpool I don't think that will answer any debate about whether we should have got him over Ange or not. It'll be because he's following Klopp in the same way Moyes followed Sir Alex. Good luck to him but if he doesn't hit the ground running, how much patience will those Liverpool fans have? In a way, that's why Alonso would have been better because he would have been afforded time from the fan-base.

If he does well, and I mean really well, you have to wonder whether we might consider Slot the one that got away, particularly if we remain just as open and inconsistent under Ange.

Comparisons to ETH are unfair because he didn't have the power of Ajax and their youth system behind him and for what it's worth, I think this is a better profile of manager than the natural tendency to bring in a huge name following Klopp. That might still end up happening if it doesn't work out with Slot though, just as United went for Van Gaal after Moyes.

Looking at the league this season it seems he's only not challenging because PSV are having a historically insane season.

For reference the highest points total in Eredvisie history is 89, and PSV are on 80 with 4 games to go.

So in other words he'll fight right in with us and City

I think we've seen enough from the decision-makers at LFC to trust their choices the last decade or so

Definitely a gamble, but the club and fans are probably more patient than clubs like Chelsea have historically been

I wonder if Arne Slot negotiated a release clause in his deal to avoid him being priced out of future moves

You've only been patient because you've had a sequence of decent managers for nearly 15 years. Klopp was amazing but Rogers was good too for a couple of years. You wait, if this goes tiiiiits up, you'll be screaming Slot out just as quickly as any other fan at any other club. Look at how long Woy lasted.

If he has any plans to manage Feyenoord in the future I wonder if he says ‘I’ll be back’ on his way out the door

The dichotomy here is trying to conflate a sequence of decent managers and then referencing Hodgson.

Nah he'll be getting a solid squad and settled owners unlike the Hodgson era where everything was up in the air. He'll get time while he adjusts

But that Ajax status hasnt helped them since they lost ETH, so its not as simple as "turn up at Ajax and win stuff". The coach makes a difference, although i would agree the class of 2019 which made it to the UCL SF was high quality and broken up in the years that followed.

Think Slot will do well there if he gets the job. Klopp was given time by the Pool fans. They do share similar traits when it comes to football like winning the ball back quickly and pressing all game. Interesting appointment.

Nothing like Moyes following SAF. More like Emery following kiddy lover at Woolwich.

Also I heard Danny Murphy say Feyenoord are top in Europe for ball recoveries(or something similar) with Liverpool in 2nd place.

Sure, yeah...

Underwhelming manager replaces club legend.

You're right. Nothing like each other.

Moyes did nothing at Everton except winning Div 2 with Preston and an FA cup runner up.

Emery won Europa cups and the French League. He wasn't as underwhelming as Moyes who got the job because he was mates with Fergie.

Totally different. Flan away mug.

Totally different. Moyes was only hired cos Ferguson wanted to see his mate in the job. There was nothing that actually qualified him to be there

Are you alright? Are you completely incapable of rational thought?

They both underwhelmed in their roles at those specific clubs having taken over a club legend. It’s not about what they did before, it’s what they did at that club. Anyone taking over Klopp right now COULD face the same fate. You watch every single pundit up and down the country right now say exactly the same thing about Sir Alex comparisons. Stop trying to be difficult for the sake of it.
