"If you talk about desperation, they played a player the other night who refused to go on the pitch. The manager said he'd never play again and he takes a five-month holiday in Argentina. What is that? Could that come under the description of desperation?"
Nail on the head.

Is the quote in the article from Fergie himself? If so I have to agree entirely with him.

There isnt
This is where city fans seem to be forgetting why SAF is the master.
That comment will undoubtedly annoy City into saying something stupid in the press again and SAF will then let it ride and then hit em when they least expect it. God you can tell you are title Virgins cant you
Done come to quick will you.. like October
For further proof, ask all the managers SAF's seen off during his tenure, including a guy supposedly known as 'the special one'

Personally I think Mancini is slipping in comparison to the previous managers Ferguson has seen off, he is only 6-8 months into his first title challenge and already Ferguson has made him look like a fool.
If only we had some real talent opposing us like Wenger at Arsenal or Mourinho at Chelsea not some half decent manager who won a bunch of titles in Italy because all the better teams were rocked by their scandal...

Neither is a case of desperation. Both are examples of good management.
- SAF identified that Utd's problems around Xmas stemmed from their midfield, and so he brought in England's best player of the last 20 years (at least!) to remedy the problem. It has worked. I completely disagree with Viera's comments on this (if indeed that is what he said/meant)
- Mancini saw that Aguero was our only reliable striker; Dzeko was playing woefully and Balotelli doesn't turn up for half of his games. So, he brought back Tevez to kick some life back into our attack, and hopefully to give Dzeko and Balotelli a good kick up the backside. Regardless of whether it works in the long-run, at least Mancini has shown that he is willing to put the team's needs first.
I think SAF sees a more of Mancini in himself than he'd dare to admit.
