"I too left the game at 2-1. Schalke should have been out of sight."

Same for me, El Cap.
Couldn't believe it when I turned back at the end.
I'd hate to be a Schalke 2-04 fan tonight.

I wish we could buy Muniain.

Wonder if there was any truth to the rumours linking us to Lewis Holtby?

I hope not, haven't been impressed with him at all. He is a good player but we need something special.

I never understand what all the fuss is about Holtby. Not good enough for Arsenal.

Have to say that's what I thought based solely on tonight too, WmyC.
But that is a little unfair of me, as it's the first time I've seen him play.

Lex, he was never Arsenal standard. Holtby would add to our deadwood. Trust me.

I remember Guilleme Balague talking up Muniain 2 or 3 years go, seems he was right... for once

Gunnerthru, I know you are competent about German football since you live in Germany and watch the Bundesliga on a regular basis, yet I cannot help but think you are being a little too harsh on Holtby.
He has just returned from a lengthy injury. Every time a player recovers, he needs some games to get back to match fitness and form.
In addition, similar to Schweini, who became a central midfielder although he was originally a winger/attacking midfielder, Holtby is being played in a more 'unspectacular' role for Schalke as compared to his role for Mainz, where he was a very effective attacking player along with Schurle and Szalai.
While I do not agree with you saying that he is an average player, I don't think Arsenal really need him anyway. But I do believe we will still see him making an impact in German club and international football
