When most fighters start talking about retirement they're usually in the twilight of their careers. With David Haye its simply not the case.
If Haye goes through with his retirement in October, assuming he gets past Wlad, do you know what this means for heavyweight boxing?? Back to the doldrums.
It would mean Haye would reign as undisputed champ for 3 months, the belts would then become vacant, and guess who will know doubt pick them back up. Wladimir Klitchsko.
Haye's would have retired after just 28 pro fights and if you look closely at them he's only been seriously tested and hurt in about 3 of them. There are also potential big future fights for him that could be held at Wembley stadium, Vegas, Madison square garden's etc against the likes of Vitali Klitscho, Adamek, Arreola, Povetkin, plus the brit pack of Chisora,Fury Price, and the Irish cuban Mike Perez, so there is plenty of good fights out there yet he's more interested in becoming pals with Justin bieber!!
I just think its a real shame that a fighter with the potential that Haye has is going to throw it all away so quickly after propelling himself right close to the top.
Assuming he wins of course. He has to start fast to stand any chance imo, the longer it goes the fight favours Wlad and if thats the case the point of this is article is void anyway, lol. It just staggers me that Haye can seriously think of retiring at the peak of his powers, but doesn't surprise me though as he's so inactive anyway, this will be his first fight in 9 months, well longer if you don't count the 3 round borefest with Fraudley!!

Have no idea why he is retiring, if he retires and vacates the titles (assuming he wins) then Klitschkos will just win them back, unless they retire

I think its very smart on Haye's part as he'll only have to fight for big purses;
Rather than facing every one of the WBO, WBC,WBA and whoever's mandatory challengers he leaves on a high, with people wanting more.
This allows any talented fighters in the division a chance to build their prestige so that when he does come out of retirement there is more intrest and a bigger payday.
The Klitchkos will fight on providing a benchmark - anyone who beats them, gains credibility and marketability making a fight worth Hayes while!
This way, Haye can earn as much money from a fraction of the fights, and in boxing - a profession where you get punched in the face for a living, I think its a smart way to go about things!
