why do we have to play so many small teams?
We last played bayern 7 yrs ago, Real madrid 6 yrs ago, inter 9 yrs ago,
fans want to see the best teams play each other, The group stages are boring. And consist of teams equivalent of Everton and Aston villa at best ( no disrespect).
TOP PL, la liga and serie A teams have all these world class players and they are subjected to go through the motions during the group stage. Its a complete waste of time for these talented players.
I want to see how well an in form RVP would do against real madrid. or man city against barcelona.
CL format needs to change

Well Real Madrid and Barca have to play rubbish teams in La Liga we might aswell not make them play the weaker teams in the league either.
I don't understand where you are coming from at all. How can the group stage be a drag when the two best teams in the 'best league in the world' can't even get out?

If its daft decision night then how about this?
How about all TV and sponsorship revenue is centralised in europe and distributed evenly to all Uefa member clubs.
Revenue generated from ticket sales would then become the biggest driver for the wealth of the clubs.
More often than not, the biggest clubs from the countries in Europe would win their league, gaining them entry into the Champions League.
Then the Champions League would then consist of the real biggest teams in Europe and there would be no boring games.

You may just get your wish and he may be playing for someone else.
If you did away with the group stages then the you will find the 3rd and 4th placed teams of the PL wouldn't be playing in the CL.

Shirt and other product sales are wortha lot to clubs and I think (but not sure) far more than ticket sales for the likes of Man U. Thats why the teams do things like sign Asian players, play games/tours in Asia to get eh Aisian sales. To some degree the same goes for Africa.
The CL is already skewed inm favour of the big leagues, we get 4 teams in it every year when some leagues only get the winner and they only go into the qualifying stages.

Gooner,
Again though, shirt sales is a good measure of the size of a club. I would suggest it would be fair to allow them to keep this.
Being a fan of one of the big 2 up in Scotland, im obviously a little jealous of the money available to you guys down there.
Saying that, clubs like yourself its fair enough, you are big big outfits. Its when we see teams like Swansea (no disrespect, good team to watch) entering the EPL and then instantly having a revenue stream which dwarfs ours, even though we have a fan base which is 10 times larger!
Just seems a bit unfair, but then thats life!

Are you in favour of the Old Firm switching leagues then?

8bit,
You obviously aint been keeping up on Scottish Football!
We might be switching leagues right down to the scottish 3rd division!
Seriously though, if we could get into England I would be delighted.
The quality of football you guys have down there is on a different level to what we get here. If we could attract world class players again I would love it.

Really? You could be liquidated? I knew you had financial problems but not been following it closely. Crazy how such a big club can come to that.
Old Firm would add a lot more to the league than some teams do tbh, a few years of the TV money and you could become a force, just now sure how it would work/what league you would enter first etc.

Yea liquidation is looking possible if not likely.
Good thing about being a huge club in a small league is that they cant really afford to let us go down to the 3rd division, so they are going to invite us straight back into the SPL. If we were relegated, the TV deal with Sky would be scrapped and the clubs would suffer because we would not take our big travelling support to the smaller clubs 4 times a year.

if you can't get past the weaker teams then you are weak as well
