As there aren't any Norwich fans on this site. I thought that I would ask my fellow Arsenal fans (of whom some may be English).
Grant Holt has scored 13 goals in the Premier League this season. Only Wayne Rooney with 22 has scored more. You see, I'm a great believer in the thought process that form takes priority over reputation.
Grant Holt may be seen as unfashionable, but can people from a country for whch Emile Heskey has won 62 caps (unbelievable, I know) be audacious enough to reject the opportunity to take Holt.
England do not have many other options do they? They've got Welbeck (who could not hit a cow's backside with a banjo), Bent is out injured, Sturridge will probably go, Frazier Campbell is simply not up to standard, Andy Carroll (well let's not even go there), Bobby Zamora does not score enough goals, Jermain Defoe can score but he is not starting regularly and Gabriel Agbonlahor is not even in the reckoning.
As Rooney decided to behave like a blithering idiot in Montenegro, he is banned for the first two games of the group stage.
England really don't have a lot of options here. I feel that they should take: Holt, Sturridge, Crouch and Rooney.
What do you think?
Should Grant Holt Go To The Euros?

I'd take him. You want player who aren't going to miss chances and really try and win the ball, Welbecks hardly the most clinical and Crouch isn't a world beater. He definitely deserves a chance off this season's performances. He's been very good

I want to see Walcott-Sturridge up front while Rooney is suspended. That's alot of pace.

But no-one to hold up the ball. If those two were to go up front, it is likely that all moves would break down, unless all passes were made for them to run onto.
I think Holt with a quick striker alongside him could be very effective.

Grant Holt would definitely be going if this was the situation in any other country. The media in this country are so obsessed with playing for a big clubs that its quite possible that dross like Andy Carroll will go and an in form hold up man like Holt will stay at home.

In all honesty if Gareth Barry or Scott Parker goes and Carrick doesn't it'll be an absolute joke.

No, i'd rather england learn to play without a target man to hoof to. That means taking some of the younger strikers like sturge and welly so be it.
Thats the future in england not holt. I did not have any preference in taking players just because they move to big clubs, but I dont think Holt will progress into the striker in england need.

Every team has a target man. Messi is Barca's, RVP is Arsenal's. It doesn't mean you have to hoof it up to them

Question you have to ask yourself is, can England play the tippy-tappy stuff and still be successful? You have to play to your strengths, and passing on the ground is not one of England's traits.

Even if it could result in a 6-0 demolition by Spain or etc. I doubt we'll get that far anywhere.
