Interesting article there.

So if your not happy with top four consistently your not a real supporter?
If you suggest we spend money it has to compared to the £100m Liverpool spend on dross?
I'm not sure if its Wenger rubbing of on you but the general consensus I'm getting is that we shouldn't spend or try and challenge in case we fail, am I right?

Erm, the team do try and they do fail - but they don't fail as much as most others. Why do people think that but simply spending money we'll suddenly do better? Why won't we just spend £25-35m and then end up with a more expensive version of Chamakh? Say, like Torres or Carroll, or any one of a number of players ManU, ManC and Chelsea have bought over the last 6-7 years - yes they have bought some cracking players, but they've also spent a fortune on some she-ite.

We spend some money, less than some, and get a reasonable return of great players - other people spend more money and get a similar return, others spend much more money and get so many players they can pick and chose once the season is underway based on who turns out good. We cannot do that.

it's not about being satisfied with top 4, it's about being realistic and not deluded and accepting football goes in cycles and you can't always be the best. Obviously every Arsenal fan wants to do better but some people act like being top 4 is some kind of disaster, I can only assume you turned up when we were the best team in the country and thought it would always be like that.

I'd love us to challenge for the title and I'd love us to sign top players but I hate so called "fans" who slate the team, Arsene, and the club as a whole for not winning trophies, They seem to think it's our birth right to be the best in the country - let me tell you something - we have NEVER been the biggest club in the country apart from maybe the '30s, and we CANNOT compete financially with City, United and Chelsea. Anyone who thinks we have the means to win the league regularly is deluded. Maybe in 5 years we will but not now. Until then, stop boring us with your whingeing and SUPPORT THE TEAM.

Ah the ol' "Support your team" rant.

The above post shows a lack of ambition.

Sure, ripping into the team for no winning trophies is never any good. But there's nothing wrong with wanting the club to do better.

We could certainly do better. And Wenger needs to pull his finger out and actually show us he's at least going to try.

Let's be honest. Beginning of every season, we know we're not seriously going to do anything. That's just how it is nowadays.

I feel sorry for you Dubbed, I really do. The start of the season is full of optimism, albeit tinged with a healthy dose of reality - I don't _know_ what'll happen at all (and frankly nor do you or anyone else for that matter), I suspect we'll do 'alright' in the league and maybe be in with a good chance of a cup. That's always been the case though - except when I would start the season praying we wouldn't flirt with the bottom of the table for so long, but that's a while ago now. Unless you include the start of this season - that wasn't nice, but we knew it wouldn't last, I think.

We can all make dire predictions and act smug when they come true. It's the easisest thing in the world to say, "we won't win", if it comes true you can be all "told you so", if it doesn't come true you'll be so "happy" you won't care when people tell you you were wrong, and chances are they won't do that because they'll be happy too. Nah, eternal pessimism is too easy, and it's too dull.

Very true, I must admit.

But it's genuine.

Wenger can do better. You cannot deny that.

The funny thing is, I can actually see us doing something next season. Assuming we sign a creative player, and a few other squad players (on top of Podolski).

Every supporter wants their club to do better. What a stupid thing to say.

Just different people react in different ways when they don't.
