Surprised that he came out in public to say this..

posted on 13/4/12

If he really believes what he is saying why then did he play for the club? Are we suppose to be like Man City or Chelsea to be ambitious? Because you played football in the past does not make you think you have more knowledge the manager. Rubbish. Am angry because these press talk destabilizes senior players who are wanted by other clubs.

Campbell is a legend he can say what he wants.

Anyways what he is saying is true, if we want to challenge we are going to have to spend abit this summer.

He says we need to sign players who can make an impact now.

Arteta? Best playmaker Everton have seen in years.

Mertesacker? Towering centre back capped 80 times for Germany.

Benayoun on loan? Experienced cover with over 10 PL years under his belt.

Santos. Flamboyant left back, cover for our weakest position.

Park.

Woaahh so he's saying Arsenal haven't won anything for a while??? How come nobody mentioned this before?!

What he said has some truth, but he shouldn't be saying this in public. The media will pick up on it and exaggerate what he is said.

..so Sol what happens if we do go and spend over 100million on average players and dont win anything meaningful

like Liverpool or City, we can even add chelsea to this list if FA cup doesnt go there way.

it really bugs me when people say crap like this, u spend money u dont win the manger doesnt know what his doing and the players are flops.

u dont spend money and stil do well..oh well not enough ambition

Sol is spot on. Your a fool to disagree and you're probably as stubborn as Wenger.. The stadium is a lame excuse now, what good is top 4 if we don't push on.. trophies is a must!

posted on 13/4/12

I really can't believe most of you are satisfied with JUST top 4. Maybe you guys weren't alive about 7 years ago when we had our glory days.... Losers

so say we did what Liverpool did this year, spend 100m, not get into the top 4, but win a trophy. be in debt for the next 10years as we have no income from CL football, kill of any youngsters coming throu cos we have spent big money on big names who have won a Mickey mouse cup for us..

mate, u have no idea what ur talking about, some people are satisfied/happy with top 4, cos we know how the club has changed from 38,000 seater stadium t o 60,000. World class training facilites, a youth setup the rest of the world (bar Barca) would kill for. CL football 14years straight.

ok we havnt won anything but its not like we havnt been competitive and challenge for the league 2 twice in those 7 years. We've done all of this, will spending with in our means and while we have lost world class players.

some of us are old enough to look at the bigger picture.

Maybe you're not old enough to realise that club's success comes in cycles, every club has to go through transitional phases, and at a club like Arsenal with no sugar daddy you simply can't have 30 million pound signings and a new stadium and everything else.

Maybe Wenger did break up the invincibles too early, but this transitional phase would have happened anyway. Highbury was a fantastic place to watch football, but it almost felt inferior to places such as OT. Granted, the Emirates atmosphere is sometimes lacking, but whenever I walk from the bar into the stand itself before kick-off I get shivers down my spine. It is the most beautiful and best stadium in England, and I'm glad that we sacrificed some of our glory to get it, because it will help keep us right at the top of the game.

We've been in this position for 7 years!!!! It was acceptable for the first 4 but we haven't progressed at all and if we continue in this way we will slip out of the top 4 soon enough.

Yeah L'pool wasted money but why not use United as an example...
20m on Young
20m on Jones
20m on De Gea
Made Rooney the highest paid player in the world whilst Wenger will probably lose RVP next summer at least because of his typical tight wage structure... sometimes you have to risk it.

United's investment seems to have paid off as they head towards their 20th title. We once competed with them....

Forget the stadium. Arsenal still bought and raised the players to be able to win things but the loser lets one slip away every year... why can't Nasri earn £120,000-a-week? He was world class last season and losing Cesc meant we needed him more than ever but typically we lost out. Like we did with Hleb, Flamini, Cole, even Adebarndoor was an un-needed loss. We just continue to give and give and 1 day our precious Jack and Alex may depart us and then what will you say.... 'at least we have good stadium'. It's time to actually build on finishing top 4 and make a title winning team. Sol is a winner and he spoke sense

all that foreign food at portsmouth has melted his mind poor bloke.

Go and support United then. Or maybe City. They spend lots of money and look at all the success that's got them. Oh wait...

they been saying that for 7 years...

yes lets use utd as an example... how much is there debt???

lets use City as an example as well. spent all that money with a sugar daddy and still won F all.. didnt even get out the CL group.

20m on De Gea - do u think he was worth it? we probably spent 50 million our youth set up and not only have we got a decent keeper from it, we have LB, CM and many more to come.

Arsenal and Arsne have a long term plan for the club, and yes i agree to an point that 7 years might be a tad long, but its not like we are poor side with no chance of glory.

United are winning the league DESPITE those signings, not because of them...

Inventor, not only are you acting like a , you are also a moron. Nasri is never worth £120k/w. Never ever ever in a million years. Were you at the game on sunday?? Did you not see how Arteta, Song and Rosicky looked brilliant while he disappeared completely? You're the kind of fan that gets us all labled as "fickle". And for the record, yes I do remember us winning things, like the league while not losing a game and the FA cup 3 times in 5 years.

posted on 13/4/12

Nasri - world class.. come on mate. he was great for 6months, and got to big for his boots and tried to hold the club to ransom.. like Helb, Ade, Cole and Flamni..

Cesc was a big loss, but there is nothing anyone could do about that.

how would u feel if the guy who u work with and do the same amount of work as u did and got paid twice as much as you..? do u think it will be a good environment for the rest of the team.

De Gea has made game winning saves, Young has come back late in the season and has put in BIG performances Spurs for example, those are worthy.

Why would I support United. I'm more of a fan than you coz I don't enjoy seeing my team lose top players and become a laughing stock most times, I bet after the 8-2 game you said 'at least we have the a big stadium' unambitious loser!

So the fact that we're probably going to finish 1 place higher than last year and maybe with a higher points total (5 points needed from 5 games) means nothing?

We lost Cesc and Nasri and one way or another we replaced them, its just Wenger never gets credit because his replacements are always cheaper than the outgoing players.

We lost Adebayor, and it facilitated the rise of RVP as one of the best strikers in the world.

We lost Hleb, and we got Nasri instead, who was allegedly 'world class' when he left Arsenal.

We lost Flamini, and replaced him with Song, who is highly-regarded as a CDM, although not universally.

Even Clichy did a good job of replacing Cole initially, although he tailed off badly in his last 2 years, now we have Gibbs.

People need to put things into context when they talk about this trophy drought

People go on about 7 years but forget to mention the new stadium (Finances restricted) finals such as Champions league, Fa Cup, Carling cup

You cant win every year margins between losing/winning cups is small

Look at the Barcelona final Henry misses a sitter (Easier than Bendtner's last year) and could have put the CL to bed and we would have won it

We have competed over the 7 years we have come up short

It took Ferguson 7 years to win the title hes now managed Man Utd for over 25 years

Hes had head start over everyone
