Wenger tried to sign Papiss Cisse from Metz didn't have a passport went to Germany.
He also said he couldn't sign him cause of the 25 man rule (Implying he was in for him last year or so)
I'm totally in support of the Inventor fella. It really does wind me up that people can't see our lack of ambition. How many more trophyless seasons of constant transition will it take for some to quit buying what Wenger and the board have been selling?
Dammit, just realised I wrote a long, detailed, serious response to John. How foolish of me!
I don't hate the team believe it or not. I just hate the downward spiral we are getting into. I hate losing our best players every year, I hate watching Wenger play idiots who cost us big games, Squilacci, Djourou etc.. at the end of the day football has changed with all this money crap and it's about moving with the times.. 5 years ago Fergie would've never spent the money he did this summer but he understands how the game has evolved whilst Wenger is still stuck in his same mindset. If RVP demanded 160,000-a-week to stay then so be it, it would make a big statement of our intentions.
With the emergence of Newcastle, City and even Spurs who will all strengthen in the summer we are in serious risk of falling out the top 4. We don't even need to spend big but bring in the right players and KEEP our current ones, Wenger keeps faith in alot of donkeys who need to leave.

Well said. My thoughts precisely. Don't know why you're getting lambasted for talking the truth.
I agree 100% with what Campbell said. Indeed I have said as much on many occasions on this forum.
We do not need wholesale changes now to our squad.
Wenger has rebalanced the squad at start of season with acquisition of more experienced players such as
Mertesacker,Santos,Benyaoun, but none of these players are 'world beaters'.
There are still weaknesses in squad and if the club is
making a progression and start winning trophies we
do need to bring in some talent. Obviously our budget
is not going to be as large as Man City or Chelsea so
that Wenger needs to be shrewder than them.
It is clear from statements made by Wenger that he will
be more proactive in transfer window than in previous
seasons and sort out contracts and buy players earlier
in window than previously.
One advantage would be to tie up third place in EPL
as quickly as possible so that we are automatically qualified. That may give us an advantage over the likes of Chelsea,Spurs and Liverpool who will be competing for many of the players we may want.
Our priority is to tie up contracts with Van Persie and
Walcott as soon as possible if not already agreed.
Go into market as early as possible and sign up two
or three top class outfield players. Assuming Podolski
deal is finalized that leave another two players to find
who will secure places in 1st X1
This should be finalized before we make disposals as we have the cash in club.
Once this has been done Wenger can focus on disposals. Players like Bendtner, Chamakh,Arshavin and Vela will want to go particularly if they see that we have bought replacements.
Almunia and Benyaoun are at end of contracts and should be released.
Others like Squillaci and Denilson may be difficult to
offload, because of their wages, but the worst scenario
is that they are loaned out again.
Apart from investment in key players we need to create at club a more appropriate wage structure than
now with more competitive wage structure for top players and less for those who are simply in squad and are only likely to sit most of time on bench or play
in Cups.
So if your not happy with top four consistently your not a real supporter?
If you suggest we spend money it has to compared to the £100m Liverpool spend on dross?
I'm not sure if its Wenger rubbing of on you but the general consensus I'm getting is that we shouldn't spend or try and challenge in case we fail, am I right?
Erm, the team do try and they do fail - but they don't fail as much as most others. Why do people think that but simply spending money we'll suddenly do better? Why won't we just spend £25-35m and then end up with a more expensive version of Chamakh? Say, like Torres or Carroll, or any one of a number of players ManU, ManC and Chelsea have bought over the last 6-7 years - yes they have bought some cracking players, but they've also spent a fortune on some she-ite.
We spend some money, less than some, and get a reasonable return of great players - other people spend more money and get a similar return, others spend much more money and get so many players they can pick and chose once the season is underway based on who turns out good. We cannot do that.
it's not about being satisfied with top 4, it's about being realistic and not deluded and accepting football goes in cycles and you can't always be the best. Obviously every Arsenal fan wants to do better but some people act like being top 4 is some kind of disaster, I can only assume you turned up when we were the best team in the country and thought it would always be like that.
I'd love us to challenge for the title and I'd love us to sign top players but I hate so called "fans" who slate the team, Arsene, and the club as a whole for not winning trophies, They seem to think it's our birth right to be the best in the country - let me tell you something - we have NEVER been the biggest club in the country apart from maybe the '30s, and we CANNOT compete financially with City, United and Chelsea. Anyone who thinks we have the means to win the league regularly is deluded. Maybe in 5 years we will but not now. Until then, stop boring us with your whingeing and SUPPORT THE TEAM.
wincoll some people are just miserable.
that was meant to be a not a laugh, lol

Ah the ol' "Support your team" rant.
The above post shows a lack of ambition.
Sure, ripping into the team for no winning trophies is never any good. But there's nothing wrong with wanting the club to do better.
We could certainly do better. And Wenger needs to pull his finger out and actually show us he's at least going to try.
Let's be honest. Beginning of every season, we know we're not seriously going to do anything. That's just how it is nowadays.
"Let's be honest. Beginning of every season, we know we're not seriously going to do anything. That's just how it is nowadays."
I feel sorry for you Dubbed, I really do. The start of the season is full of optimism, albeit tinged with a healthy dose of reality - I don't _know_ what'll happen at all (and frankly nor do you or anyone else for that matter), I suspect we'll do 'alright' in the league and maybe be in with a good chance of a cup. That's always been the case though - except when I would start the season praying we wouldn't flirt with the bottom of the table for so long, but that's a while ago now. Unless you include the start of this season - that wasn't nice, but we knew it wouldn't last, I think.
We can all make dire predictions and act smug when they come true. It's the easisest thing in the world to say, "we won't win", if it comes true you can be all "told you so", if it doesn't come true you'll be so "happy" you won't care when people tell you you were wrong, and chances are they won't do that because they'll be happy too. Nah, eternal pessimism is too easy, and it's too dull.

Very true, I must admit.
But it's genuine.
Wenger can do better. You cannot deny that.
The funny thing is, I can actually see us doing something next season. Assuming we sign a creative player, and a few other squad players (on top of Podolski).
Every supporter wants their club to do better. What a stupid thing to say.
Just different people react in different ways when they don't.
