Is it enough?

Alot of doom and gloom hanging around over the past few days.

But it boils down to this:

Win our two home games and pick a point up on the road means we will probably stay up.

This would represent a decent effort when we look at where we were a few months ago.

The defeat against Liverpool was a bitter pill, IMO we played far too openly -for example the Olsson twins seemed to be stood on each others toes on the touchline whenever one of them got the ball. Not enough substance in the midfield but unfortunately injuries have affected that - nothing we can do about them.

I've also read a couple of lazy articles slating Kean's signings and the players he's shipped out. Let me chip in and compare a few Fat Sam Vs Kean signings:

Centre forward:

SAM: Kalinic (6m)
KEAN: Yakubu (free)

Defenders:

SAM: Jacobsen (2m)
KEAN: Orr (free)

I've only got time to list a couple of comparisons, but look at Orr vs Jacobsen for example in the RB department. IMO Orr has been one of our steadiest players since Jan and has chipped in with a couple of nice assists (the cross vs Villa or Dunny springs to mind). Jacobsen was injury prone and disappeared after a season.
People need to give a balanced view when comparing Sam signings and Kean signings.

Wow,

Let's look at this one point at a time:

"Alot of doom and gloom hanging around over the past few days"

Understandably, this whole situation was predicted by those with a degree of intelligence and totally avoidable.

"Win our two home games and pick a point up on the road means we will probably stay up"

Not probably at all. It would give us 35 points which two of the teams above us need just one win and a draw to reach. Logically, they average more points per game than us, why should this change?

Secondly on your claim, wasn't the ambition top four, revised to Europe, promised avoiding the drop? 35 points is rarely enough points for survival thus shouldn't be considered an achievement.

"This would represent a decent effort when we look at where we were a few months ago"

How many times before it sinks in, who put us there? Who put us within 90 mins of relegation last season? Who took over a stable mid table club and who took over a stable mid table team?

"Not enough substance in the midfield but unfortunately injuries have affected that - nothing we can do about them"

The stupidity of this comment has already been highlighted. The fact that we've rarely had a balanced or settled midfield is down to Kean. As you like your comparisons, Hughes generally went with Bentley, Tugay, Savage and Peds. Not bad eh?

I was amazed that you state:

"I've also read a couple of lazy articles slating Kean's signings"

And then go with:

"
SAM: Kalinic (6m)
KEAN: Yakubu (free)

SAM: Jacobsen (2m)
KEAN: Orr (free)
"

If you want a none lazy comparison try this. Sam took over a team in the bottom 3, generated a net profit of about £30m in transfers and took us to 10th. Kean took a team in 10th, generated about £10m net profit (possibly unless Jerome has it all), and put us in the bottom 3. Not really a comparison is there?

Plus, has Kean not been in charge long enough to be judged on his own merit. Why compare him to Sam (to whom he's much inferior anyway), why not Moyes, Martinez, Lambert, Rodgers?

"People need to give a balanced view"

Amen.

Have you altered your view of Steve Kean's managerial abilities? Are you man enough to admit that your blind optimism was at best misguided and at worst, plain stupid?

It probably matters little to you as you're most likely a fan by sky subscription anyway!

+++++++++++++++
Your joking right you are not being serious 7 points to keep us up
we need a minimum of 9 points to have a half a chance
Injuries we have not had any in the midfield Kean sold them all don't come on here and lie
You are just a bad Troll

All, on WOW's thread it is fitting that I chip in with this.

With Lawrenson still backing Rovers to stay up I'd say it's over! Alcohol needed early tomorrow.....

So are you trying to argue that Kean's signings are superior to or as good as Allardyce's? Because if we accept that premise (which I can't imagine many people do) then surely the logical conclusion is that Kean must be even more tactically inept than any of us dreamt of? To inherit Sam's team and to be able to sign all these superior or, at the very least, equally good players, and to be able to offload Sam's dross and to STILL have us sitting in the relegation zone for almost the whole season hardly demonstrates tactical brilliance, does it?

BRFC: excellent summary (I almost said WOW then I remembered the thread-er), I suspect a legal mind at work here.... Nailed it!!

Well said, that is exactly where the 1 or 2 Rover's fans still defending Kean and the fans of other clubs who support him fall down. They bring up his 'amazing' transfers and yet for all of that he still has us nearly relegated whereas SA (with worse players they would have you believe) had us in mid-table comfortably. Kean has proven he is not up to it, shame it is only the majority of Rover's fans who can see it, and not the media, rival fans and a few (very few) Rover's fans.
