Mr Diouf has been arrested and bailed after a nightclub brawl in Manchester!!
Whilst his ability with a ball is the best I've seen in a Rovers shirt for a fair few years, I suspect (& in a way, hope) we've seen the last of him.

Diouf arrested

NY,
I actually said it was the wrong time to make those comments mainly because of a clause in his contract saying he will be disciplined for such actions.
If one of my old boys wanted to make a damning statement to the press he would have made it anonymously with no way of tracing it back to him. I would like to think we could talk any differences through and then decide I was right in the first place(now where have I heard that before?)
Copps has been trapped by the reporter and he has spoken without thinking of the consequences, a bit naive really but he is a genuine character I like.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of Copps' comments, most fans would want him to be part of the team for next season.
He hasnt had his best season for us admittedly, but showed on Saturday what a pivotal player he is.
Come to think of it, which of our players have had a good season?
Perhaps Friend when not injured, possibly Sam Hird.
Not many anyway.
Tevez at Man City refuesed to play for his club and it was commonly thought that he wouldnt be welcomed back by his team mates.
I havent seen any evidence of that when i have watched them on the tv.

Not had anything positive to say for well over a month,so I've kept my gob shut.
Still got nothing positive to say ??? but I'm gonna say it anyway.
As long as he put on a Donny shirt we where never gonna have a settled team, and with a spineless manager in charge,he was allas gonna get a shirt,at times the guy did a job for us on the field, but no as many times as he ran around like a headless chicken,or a kid that wanted to do everything.don't give a toss how good you are,act like a professional, something he's incapable of.

When Coppinger re-signed it was generally welcomed as an indication that we had ambition as a club. I don't remember widespread objections. He has been good for us and he is probably not the ideal player for the Saunders style of football. What has been admirable is that the SOD squad have not rocked the boat publically. Up to now they never even hinted at their discomfort with the regime which saw some of them dropped simply to make way for McKay imports. Surely what Coppinger is saying is exactly what JR and Saunders are now admitting; the experiment did not work.
Coppinger epitomised the good years under SOD; he did have his off days, but at his best he was as good as anyone I have seen in a Rovers shirt.

On Diouf - I agree with the very first comment - why are we surprised. I'd be surprised if he is still at Donny next season anyway.
On Copps - I'm surprised nobody has said anything before. I don't think anything he said is incorrect or disloyal. Sky also only posted part of the interview. Other parts balance what he said a bit more.
The reporter talking to Copps said that, given the names that had come into #drfc, relegation was surprising when promotion had been mooted.
Copps also said: "I think relegation is down to an accumulation of things. It's hard to change things in a short period of time."
Coppinger: "Unfortunaely the gaffer and everyone concerned were put into a position where they were fighting an uphill battle."
Coppinger: "We had great success with Sean for five years but obviously Dean hasn't had that time - he's not had that bedding in period."
Coppinger: "He's been thrown in at the deep end with the job of trying to keep us in the league and it's been hard for everybody."
Fair comments IMO, and nowhere near as damning/controversial/sensational as Sky Sports made them sound.
On JR - that's when he gets it right. Not with his petty moaning at Leeds/Sheffield fans in Donny but with this kind of relationship-building. Well done him.

On 14 September 2010, Coppinger scored a hat trick against Norwich in a 3–1 victory, taking them up to fourth in the table.
On 21 July 2011, Coppinger signed a new contract at Doncaster keeping him at the Keepmoat till 2014.

OMG!
How could it go so wrong?
Whoever signed him must have been a good manager!
Aah, the Good NotSoOld Days!
Brings a lump to your throat.
Or tear to your eye.
Or something.

Fuzzy, thanks for posting that info about the Coppinger interview.
The extra words put a completely different spin on it.
Classic sky sports reporting!!!!

Personally, I hope that Copps stays with us to the end of his playing career and possibly longer than that if he wants to go into coaching / management. He is a very intelligent player and has tried his hardest to keep us in the CCC this season. If he signs for a Championship club in the close season, then I can't say that I blame him. As we know, football (as a player) is a relatively short career and players need to earn money whilst they can...but fingers crossed!
As regards his comments, I highlighted many months ago the interview with him after the Ipswich game where he said that it would probably take 6 months for the players to fully understand what Dean wants from them in the same way that it took 6 months under Sean. He also said that the experiment could work as long as the players coming in showed passion and commitment and he specifically praised Pascal Chimbonda for his attitude. Later, we heard from newspaper snippets that the French speaking players tended to have their own clique and that there were 2 distinct groups in training - and Copps' latest comments hint that perhaps not all imports had the same attitude as Chimbonda originally showed, nor the same passion and sense of "togetherness".
As regards the statements he made, I don't think there is anything too untoward there. I understand NY's point about discipline and keeping any criticisms within the camp but he seems to have said nothing that is inconsistent with the statements now being made by JR and Deano.
On EHD, I also commented a few weeks ago after the Derby game that we seemed to lose momentum too many times because there seemed to be a requirement to get the ball to EHD at all times, so I do agree to some extent with Canadian's comments. This only seemed to happen a couple of times - against Derby and Milwall and it wasn't happening anymore by the time of the Birmingham game. I can't see EHD being with us next season but if he wishes to stay with us and he is prepared to put in the graft and stay out of trouble, then great!
