Valencia has been the best winger in the premier league. So if you are picking a team with wingers then you have to pick him,
I challenge anyone to name a winger that has been better than Valencia over the course of the season.

Valencia deserves to be in the team of the year without question but i don't think Carrick does. Yes he has done well this season but he has not been spectacular.
It seems to me that people are overrating Carrick these days to compensate for how underrated he used to be. He has performed to the level expected of him this season (unlike some previous seasons) but that is not something to go nuts about. The praise that Carrick receives these days would suggest that his form has been above and beyond expectation which it simply hasn't.
I'd give Carrick a B or, at best, a B+ for his season - i.e. good but nothing to shout about.

And I'd agree, fantastic to see Carrick recognised. Our player of the season for me, can't understand why Rooney is in the teams and he isn't.

Sorry but this makes no sense to me at all.
Rooney has only scored 2 fewer goals than RVP who everyone agrees deserves to be voted player of the season. How could Roo not even deserve a place in the team of the season when his achievement is almost the same as the "best" player in the league?

Aguero has been class so I wouldn't have argued if he had been included tbh. But Roo has a far better claim to be included than Carrick.
