As great as Valencia has been in the past few months, I dont think he deserves a place in any team of the SEASONs.

He wasnt even getting a sniff of first team football really for the first half of the seson and in the second half, every 2 top performances he has put in has been followed by 1 average one (i.e. his last 2/3 performances have been average)

I'm a massive fan of Valencia, but I feel his contribution this season has been overrated. He didnt do much during the first half of the season as he couldnt get a look in ahead of Young and Nani. He really turned it on at the turn of the year but has still been a little disrupted by injury.

He's been good this season, but no way does he deserve the POTY award ahead of RVP.

I don't think Valencia deserved to win the award either but I don't feel his contribution has been overrated to be honest with you. He is a fantastic player and one of the best wingers in the league.

I've not noticed Carrick particularly but then I don't really watch United games so fair play to him

Hippo - I agree

Some rumours on twitter tonight floating about that Van Persie was out of the country with his agent and representatives. Arrived back in England at Heathrow this morning.

I'm not going to argue with that. But many United fans have him as the club's player of the season. I think there are a few United players who have been better than him this season.

He deserved a place in the PFA team though, as there hasnt been a right winger better than him this season.

Sorry this had nothing to do with Carrick OP I know.

The Red Side - Do you think RVP is off then?
Bloodred - I don't think he is United's player of the season I would say Carrick, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Valencia did win it.

Blueboy - Carrick has been great this season!

He was apparently in the company of some Manchester City delegates as well.

I'm not going to say whether he's off or not because a lot of what you read off twitter you can't believe, but the person who said this got the Nasri transfer right last summer I think.

posted on 25/4/12

I personally think he will be off because I can't see him staying at Arsenal not to win trophies, who was the user who got the Nasri transfer right?

Fourth Official.

He consistently gets transfers right to be honest. Worth following.

I think RVP would be wise to move to CIty. He suits the english game, he loves this league so moving abroad (unless Real or Barca come calling, both unlikely) would be a step backwards

City will challene for all titles, they will give him good wages, they arent one of Arsenal's greatets traditional rivals (i.e. united, Spurs etc) so it seems a logical move.

Mind you, a front 4 of Silva, Nasri, Aguero, RVP would be immense and thtas not taking into account any other £30mil signign they will inevitably make

I'd add AC Milan to the mix

I reckon they're near back to being main CL contenders as well

Redside - Thanks
Smalling - I hope he doesn't go to City, anyone but them! Frightening prospect to see RVP, Silva, Nasri and Aguerro played together!
Redcon - I agree!

Yes that may be true but the italian league is still in tatters really. In fact, Id say the germna league is more attractive for big names nowadays

Smalling - The italian may be in tatters but AC Milan are certainly not.

Yes but as a player, if you are moving to a club, you are also moving to the league.

Who wants to move to a great club if they play in a league where stadiums are half empty and the other clubs are just there to make up the numbers.

Smalling - Fair point

disagree

Even if there is a set back in the league (both the prem and Serie A are weak compared to years past) Juve, Milan, Inter, Barca, and Real are always clubs that can and will pull players.

The Bundesliga is just Bayern even if they finish 6th for five years straight.

And Serie A is getting back to what it was prior to the scandal.

Juve, Inter and even Milan cannot attract the world's best today, no way.

Just look at their 'star players' atm.

Juve - Iaquinta, Melo
Inter - Sneijder (wants to leave), Milito
Milan - Robinho, Ibra (both rejects)

THey're certainly nowhere near as hih profule as the likes of Aguero, RVP, Rooney, Gerrard etc.. PLus look at the up and coming talents, Hazard, Neymar etc. all say they want to move to England/Spain...never Italy anymore

Sorry, Smalling, there is no way Melo/Iaquinta are Juve's best players as they don't even start, and they clearly possess talent as I'm pretty sure they are unbeaten this season.

The likes of Buffon, Chiellini, Lichtsteiner, Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio either are at the top of their respective positions in Europe, simply very good, or proven class.

Also, Inter despite there woeful form have good players beyond Sneijder who has barely featured. Samuel, Chivu, Cambiasso etc are all very good Expereinced players.

And whilst Milan have two 'rejects' both of those players are very good, and we're attracted to the club despite being 'big names'. Also, they possess quality defenders such as Thiago Silva.

What is clear from the above, is that whilst the Premier League has talent it is far more attack-central, and just because the Serie A teams don't posses the front line force, it doesnt mean they don't have quality players.

Sorry for the off topic post OP.
