Marko, I don't think that's the ploy, it's just that he is on such dodgy ground that it costs a lot to try and find some precedents or loopholes he can leverage.

It doesn't help that Taylor is incompetent and that Harvey isn't believable by judges.

ye Jonty, and then he goes into court and calls the prosecution they are "being pathetic" and puts them down for "never having worked in the real world". Insulting the prosecution isn't going to help your case.

Marko, the judge told him to calm down.

The man is an embarrassment to Leeds United and ever since he joined our name has been in the press for all the wrong reasons.

Oh look no mention of bates in court on Yorkshire Radio

------------------------------------------

Strangely enough, nor is there any mention on the Leeds O/S.

Apparently not all publicity is regarded as good by Bates, so why on earth does he create so much of the unwanted kind?

...and breathe, Marko!

Alright, so guess I've been a bit quick to be knocking, wasn't aware of how little the club are willing to listen.

However I still maintain that by growing as a group to the size that you can't be ignored, rather than constantly antagonising the old codger on the streets and online is a far better expenditure of your time. The best way to get someone on board is to adapt your approach around the individual, play Devil's Advocate. If you were Bates, and there were people stood against your plans for the club (and your retirement fund), would you be prepared to listen to them if they were constantly knocking you as an individual, calling in to 606/Yorks Radio, writing on forums and releasing PR's contradicting everything you say? No, you'd get even more volatile, and start berating them publicly like the poorly endowed, past it, selfish sod you are.
But if you appeal to his obviously inflated ego, explain how your plans can benefit both him and the club and that you can be the organisation with your finger on the pulse of the club so his plans to 'expand' the club can be met with minimum resistance, you're much more likely to get something back for us fans. Even if it's getting to the point where you're able to explain why we don't want a new home strip every season as it puts us out of pocket and you can suggest more benefitial revenue streams for the club, that's still a win. Against major players, you have to take an argument step by step, win by win.

I'm staunchly against Bates' ownership of the club (and can see some sense in your suggestion that Bates is ciphering money off the club through law suits actually!) but even I'm getting bored of the barrage as it's not getting anyone anywhere positive, in fact it's taking us backwards.

LondonWhite, if the entire stadium burst into rapturous applause at the sight of him it would no doubt please him and boost his inflated ego. Whether it would loosen his grip on the purse strings (for players) is debatable, and in my opinion extremely unlikely. That is based on past performance in that area.

London, they don't listen regardless of whether or not you're being welcoming. That's the problem.

You can't make a simple, small suggestion because it just gets ignored. Keep in mind the protesting happened long before many people even knew about LUST.

I agree, you're right, that is the best way to do it. But it just doesn't work. It's not a case of we're being aggressive and him lashing out. It's a case of we tried being civil and he told us where to stick it, like he does with everybody.

It's not a case of the Campaign for Change approaching it wrong. The aggression has come as a direct result of the clubs unwillingness to listen. There are no two ways about it, we could use your approach until the end of days and they'd still not take anything on board.

Any suggestion, even the slightest suggestion, that there might be a better, more beneficial way of doing things than the mighty ken bates way, is met with hostility.

LUST aren't doing anything wrong in their approach, they've got everything right so far. The aggression and protesting is a direct result of unwillingness to listen and it's part of the unrest.

i don't know how many times more I can explain this perfectly clearly and have people not understand that there's nothing wrong with the approach taken by fans because the peaceful, civil one didn't work, was never going to work and never will work while ken bates is in charge of anything.

I'd imagine any suggestions that the plans can benefit him would be met with "well in the real world where I live and nobody else does, that's not how things work. You know nothing, putrid rat"

Lust tried to engage with Leeds Leeds weren't interested.

Bates tactics is to always creat distractions so fans/public focus on them rathervhan what is actually going on.

Bates has no interest in dealing with fans/supporters trust unless they give him money.

Jonty, the shameful releasing of about 6 different stories in one day, all aimed at making different aspects of the bates regime sound amazing, on a day when bates is in court - definite diversion tactic.

We had Bruce slagging off Grayson, Lorimer saying fan involvement doesn't work and leads to disaster in the same way the German Bundesliga is in tatters and ruins right now (lol), Webber tipping us for Promotion and I'm sure there were a couple of others - all released on the same day while bates was in court getting told to shut up and grow up by a judge.
