McCoist Comments.

I was reading an article on BBC website and there are a couple of qoute's from McCoist on the deals given to McGregor and Whittaker and ongoing negotiations with Davis.

Basically the quotes seem to point to him believing the squad we have is good enough and he thinks that the guys that are there have worked hard for the club and deserve to be rewarded for their achievments.

I have said in a couple of articles that I believe in the players we have and that only minor adjustments need to be made, one being the purchase of a quality centre back and the other to bolster the squad with 2 or 3 more squad players, obviously if we keep the players we already have.

Cuellar would obviously fit the bill as that centre back but it remains to be seen if we will sign him, but I think we must sign someone of his quality in that position.

Ortiz, although some people seem to be saying he is unknown, has a good la liga reputation and can be utilised as a right winger or defender and seems to be the type of player we can use in the contrasting styles we use at home and in Europe.

I would also say that we need a central midfielder with the ability to dig in and win the balls that, sometimes, last season we struggled to do without McCulloch in the team.

Wiess in my opinion last year blew hot and cold and was most effective as an impact player from the bench so wether it be a fairly high profile loaned player, as I think wiess was, or a permenant signing someone has to fill this gap.

The younger guys we have brought into the squad last year, Ness and Wilde in particular, done extremely well and deserve to be every bit and more part of the first team squad this time around. Also the boy Cole seems to have been getting extra training to improve his ability to adjust to a more central role in defence as well as is preferred position at left back and by all accounts he is coping well and getting good reviews from the coaching staff. We should definetely be reaping the benefits from Murray park and with the financial contraints we have now should see some of them blossoming into good first team players as they get the opportunity to play, more often, a much more competitive type of football

I dont want to see a major overhaul in the first team next season and think we bears should be extremely happy about how we are performing on the pitch. If the money guys do their job and get us back on track financially the future is indeed bright and we can look forward to continued success for our club.

I hope Edu is punted, exactly that too slow on the ball and first touch is horrific for a professional football player.

Just can't see any team being that interested.

I'm sure he was better a few seasons ago, i think he is better at right back too. I see him as being a squad player this year and even Ness and Hutton should be ahead of him.

Once the Goodwillie court situation is clear, I think we will make a move for him but we'll have to pay the 2m which is fair. It just seems to have gone all quiet on the Cardiff/Blackpool front

Is the court date not very soon?

I'm sure i read it was next week he would find out if he would be taken to trial

whte does not rate goodwillie at 2 million,,so unless cardiff back down or utd, goodwillie will not be going to the ragers...

for the record, i'm hearing goodwillie is up in court on thursday for his "misdemeanour"

When I was watching the boxing on Sat one of my dads mates ( Man U) fan said that the girl who accused Goodwillie has accused another guy before.

This could be bulls**t but there is a very good chance that Goodwillie will be found innocent (correctly if my dads mate is right). I reckon that he will eventually end up a Rangers player but I think that will be the end of Rangers spending.

I reckon you guys wil buy Ortiz( has he been confirmed?)
Goodwillie.
Then 2 loan signings.
I don't think you will offload a lot of players.

Just my opinion and I'm hoping for another close season, keeps it exciting, obv hoping for a better outcome.

For the record I think Celtic will off load a few fringe players. Buy a GK ( eventually!) and Bellamy on a loan deal or the Norwegian lad and that will be us as well.

No big spending sprees from either side.

Thursday is when it will be decided if the case proceeds. As to Whyte's valuation....he may regret saying that and swallow his words. I suppose it all depends on what are the alternatives.

Great comments and it does indeed seem we are in for another close season.

Allegiances aside, onward and upward for both sides of Glasgow (and the rest of scottish football) is my hope.
