The dust has finally started to settle, the biggest derby ever has been lost. City are back in the driving seat, though they've got to get past a Newcastle side, who despite a recent setback are flying.
First and foremost, I said I'd applaud City if they won fairly. They did just that, so well done City, if you beat Newcastle and QPR then you deserve the title. If we can't win it, then I'm glad it's a Manchester side that does.
Secondly, I have decided I dislike the majority of our own fans. Fickle, ill-educated prattlings coming from 'fans' in the pub included "eff off Carrick, you're effing useless", "De Gea should've saved that. Easy", and "Smalling? What's he ever done good?" This nonsense is spewed by fans who don't understand the game at all in my opinion. A) Carrick played well, and has been on of our best players this season, B) DDG Had no chance at all, and I felt had a solid game, C) Smalling was at fault for the goal, but other than that one mistake I didn't see him put a foot wrong.
Thirdly, I think the fans on here slating Giggs are wrong. He was given the left wing, and misplaced at most 5 passes. Yeah, he didn't set the world alight with a mazy run, but who did? It's this scapegoating that is so harmful to our team. DDG had it early on, now it seems to be the fashionable option to blame it all on Giggs, Jones, Park, and even Fergie for god's sake!
Finally, and I apologise for the rant, it's not settled yet. Newcastle and QPR both have huge causes to fight for, Europe and survival respectively. So they aren't about to roll over for City, there could be a twist in this tale yet. The same applies for Swansea and Sunderland for ourselves, we must give our all and go out fighting if need be.
The Fallout.

I did say the 'Modern United', I'm not going to argue with you on the Busby points, I wasn't around back then so it would just be churlish.
I think your point about the 'United Way' being something that the fans want to watch is based on the idea that teams must play offensive football to excite. I've always advocated Counter Attacking football as the most exciting style. So I think that's where we diverge in opinions.

Fair points.
Just out of curiosity though, are you saying you'd prefer us NOT to win a game if it means us playing brilliant football?
Take the Everton game last week. Some of the attacking play was brilliant, but would you not have been happier with a scrappy 1-0 win?

Fair enough and how I wish for the counter attacking 94 side, now that was a great side to watch

Blood red, yes and no as we are fans and love united and want them to win things. But I love watching united when they try and play using the wings, it's great to watch! Now everyone was strange as the attacking stuff was great but boy the defending was shocking and if paddy headed the ball in for 5 we wouldn't be so down at the moment. Anyway, we support and speical club and therefore you should take pride as there's always next season and you can't always win it

I agree with you about Carrick, he's a quality player and possibly the most under rated player in the Premier League. De Gea,after a shaky start has been brilliant and aside from being at fault for the goal Smalling looked very good and a I rate him higher than Phil Jones. But where I disagree with you is Giggs. I think too much has been asked of him this season, he's pushing 40 and to be honest he's starting to look it. One of our very best servants, but time waits for no man.

Baz - Carrick really is underappreciated by some of the thicker fans. People who say he did little but pass back to Rio didn't see how often he got in tackles as City's players were running at the defence. He showed a turn of pace I didn't know he had.
As for Giggs, I think it's unfair to blame him for being over-played. We should be questioning why some of our younger players aren't good enough for the team when a 38 year old is. Giggsy didn't have a brilliant match, but I don't think he was poor in comparison to some of our other players.

I'm not blaming Giggs for being over played, just saying we can't expect miracles for a guy who's 38 (or is he 39??). He looks tired to me.

Many fans have been saying for years that our midfield needs improving. The response from those who disagreed was that Utd were the second best team in Europe after Barca. What a load of nonsense. Second best team in Manchester more like!
I understand that there are sensitivities about criticising our own players but I, like many others, have been disillusioned by our standard of football in recent years, despite our success on paper.
Fergie has always said that Utd have to play football "the right way". I just hope he soon remembers what that way is because I haven't seen it for some time.
If we win the league this year it will be the luckiest title win yet imho.
